Sincere question: I’ve read a lot of comments oh this sub where people call books they don’t like “pretentious” (see the recent thread about popular books people disliked for many examples of this). In my understanding and experience, pretentiousness only really applies to people who think and act like they’re better than you, so how can that apply to a book?
