Like for me I didn't stop per se but I really lost my love for a series (fifth season) when I realized that if I gender and race swapped every character, it would be some cliche and slightly misogynistic story from the 90s that wouldn't have aged well.

(Edit: since some people don't understand, this isn't some grand literary critique, or serious criticism. This is just something I realized that killed my passion. I respect the author and liked a number of other things in the trilogy. My real criticism is how the novel usings magic as an allegory for the black experience but Jemisen choose to repeatedly validate the fears/bigotry people have to the magical people in the book)

I'm curious if others have any books that you just had to put down after some realization like "wow literally every woman in this story is treated as a sex object" (Harry Dresden cough cough) or " every problem wouldn't have happened if the MC didn't do the dumbest thing at every opportunity" or "this is just the story of Moses with space rocks" or what not.
