For me, it was Nevile Shute's "On the Beach" I first read this book about 15 years ago when I was going through my Post-apocalyptic stage. The way people knew the end of their world was coming, yet tried to continue living a normal life like nothing was happening, was very heartbreaking. Each persons story was so sad. This novel has stuck with me throughout the years. I always think of that >!sailor who jumped from the U.S. Sub and went to the irradiated shore to spend his last days in his dead home town!<.
