Are you looking for YA or adult? What kind of books does she currently read?

Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is a huge hit for adults (bi lead). Red white and royal blue is Mlm also adult. Very well loved (and a TV show coming out soon I think?)

Like others said, their own website if they offer it.

But if you want to support authors then use Amazon. Self publishing on KU is literally the only way I, and countless others, make a cent off our books. Most people don't get picked up by a publisher or have thousands to self advertise. Amazon has done more for independent authors than anywhere else and it's not even a competition.

It has been years since I've read through it, but I loved the chapter in Two Towers where Merry and Pippin are smoking pipe weed with Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas and tell the story of their adventures in flashback. It just is such a cool way to tell the story. I also love the chapter where Gandalf tells Frodo about the ring, chapter 2 of Fellowship I think.

I can't think of a book that's now considered as a classic to be not a slog. All of them were written in a different style from what we are used with today's writing style. Style, prose, language changed over time. Not sure if literature followed people's tastes or vice versa.

This is why I'm so glad I picked up Steven Brust's Dragaera series when I was a kid. No explicit sex scenes, women are respected, and the one scene where a threat of sexual violence is very lightly implied, everyone else is disgusted by it. The world building misses nothing from not having breasts described in great detail.

Brust is getting near the end of the series now (began in the 80s and the early books still hold up) and the next book is coming out in April.
