No, actually they didn’t win the lawsuit. It was settled & under the terms of the settlement he had to acknowledge in an introduction or something that their recollections were different than his. He didn’t need to change anything in the body of the book. Settlement was mostly in his favor.

use a ruler or paper and block out the next few lines. then just move down the ruler as you go so you focus on one line at a time. this is what I do when I'm distracted and trying to read.

Yep, All the Pretty Horses (one of my favourite books of all time), and Blood Meridian. I've got the third in the trilogy as well as No Country for Old Men. The latter was the first McCarthy book I tried but bounced off almost immediately, Blood Meridian was what got me hooked.

I don’t really have an opinion on how accurate it is, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was embellished/exaggerated. I disagree though that it would be impossible for him to remember enough to write it. Some people have better memories than others and I definitely think it’s possible to write a more accurate memoir. He’s not even a little kid in the book, isn’t he around 12-14? If he was keeping a journal at the time, which I think he mentioned in the book, that would help too. And going through some major events and changes in his life that he’d be more likely to remember for that reason.

Because most are using 60,000 words to say “Take time for yourself, spend 30 minutes a day exercising, eat nutritious un-processed foods, limit your alcohol intake, get enough sleep, and be nice to people”. That’s 90% of self help in a nutshell. If you need more than this, you probably should be getting advice from a qualified professional, not a book.

Oh, and financial self help books are crap too. There is no credible advice there that you can’t get from the r/personalfinance wiki.

What other two have you read? I assume all the pretty horses since you are on the crossing. I'm wondering what the other one is that makes you such a big fan? If you are a big fan you are lucky, that means you have a lot of great reading ahead. My comment comes from a place of jealousy as I only have one book left that I know of.
