I’m also waiting for the sequel to Shades of Grey, though I only read it two years ago when I read all of Fforde’s work. I’d love another Thursday Next book too.

"May we all rest in peace." I've never read that sentence before.

Not personally but also don’t draw or annotate in my books. If you think it’s cool and it’s your book, go for it! Experiment with a cheap/old book, and if you see a lot of it on social media, comment on the YouTube or tiktok clip for paint type/application advice from the creator?

If having a high goal or a goal at all makes reading feel stressful and like a chore, then don't have a goal. My goal is 72 books this year, but I'm of the attitude that it doesn't really matter if I make it or not. I didn't reach my goal last year. Not even close.
I read for fun, not to reach a number that doesn't matter. If I don't feel like reading, then I don't.

Scrap the goal of 50. It is irrelevant how many books you read. Just read one book in full and the another and another. Just keep looking for what interests you.

To answer your question, to me, personally, it would feel like desecration. If it’s done right and you like it, though, I don’t see the problem. They’re not my books, lmao.

She says a lot of things that aren't fact or true or worth listening to.
Harry Potter is bigger than Rowling.

The first book of The Sun Also Rises is basically just ubering around a city and partying with your friends.
I recently read The Time Machine for the first time and so much of it feels very modern in story and theme. Tho this ones been so influential that is the reason it feels modern

Reply to I don't understand why publishers tend to release larger versions of books first. by Matherno
This is simple, you don't have to get the larger release version just *to read it* upon release, use your local library for that, then buy the smaller version you want for your personal library when it comes out. Win, win.
Of course, if it happens to be a VERY popular series, there may be a wait period before you can borrow a copy from your library, but probably less than 6 months.
Another option is buy the larger version, read immediately, then sell on.

Oh man, I loved that story! I did an essay comparing and contrasting it with Dalton Trumbo's "Johnny Got His Gun" and the professor loved it. Boy that was a long time ago.

Honestly felt unnecessary I read them back to back and it felt like it starts with us could have been summed up in 30 pages. I just thought the plot was weak.

On a $10 paperback? Why not? If I wanted to do something artsy with them, I'd slap on the paint, glitter, stickers, whatever. Acrylic paint is probably the easiest.

I love T.S. Eliot.
Let us go then. You and I. When the evening is spread out against the sky. Like a patient etherized on a table.
Let us go through half-deserted streets, the muttering retreats Of one night (ugh, can’t remember!) Of sawdust restaurants and oyster shells?
Oh, do not ask, what is it Let us go and make our visit
In the room, the women come and go Talking of Michelangelo

Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens, Roughing It or The Innocents Abroad by Mark Twain. All of these are extremely funny books despite being written 150+ years ago.

Pretty close to the idea of corresponding after death.
Of course, 13 years ago is also considerably closer than when it was written, so, yes?

Well the answer to that I think is that stories of these animals with trusts set up in wills are mostly apocryphal, though you could set up a trust while you were still alive if you had the cash and bypass the whole process.
