That's what I feel like would happen, if I'm just sitting and reading I tend to get distracted by any noise/thought

When I'm walking, it's almost as if I have to focus a bit more initially, but then go into a routine of one step after the other, while at the same time not be distracted by everything

My advice: stay open but don't force it.

Something I noticed on this sub is that many people treat reading like a work. They will push themselves to read more, faster, broader, they will post review and complete excel sheets. And that's fine, but at the end of the day reading is a pleasure, not a chore. It's totally fine and healthy to want to broaden your horizon but you have a favorite genre for a reason: it's your favorite. Embrace your tastes.

But at the same time, stay open. If you come across a book in another genre that has been warmly reviewed and you're in a lull, give it a shot. You might find something new you like. Just don't force it.

Hmm! I have really been noticing errors in my books recently and it drives me nuts! I wish I could highlight them on my kindle and the the author would see it and fix hahah Some are glaringly obvious. I’m not sure I trust booktok quality selections..

Sounds like there might be some anxiety issues there…hatred is a pretty strong word for being unable to focus on reading.

Suggesting a psychologist might be useful to help provide you with some tools so you can practice focus and get to the root cause as to why you’re experiencing a deterioration in skill and frustration with a number of different activities.

The footnotes are read in a different voice. Didn't hinder my experience at all. There were quite a lot of foreign words, due to explanations about etymologies and what not, some seem shaky, because it's highly unlikely that two voice actors would be fluent in so many languages, but neither am I, so I couldn't tell 100% and this wasn't an issue either. It's pretty long though, so maybe pick whichever format gets you through a lot of text better.

There are a lot of incomplete history book trilogies that have been started in the past 20 years. I'm waiting on part 2 of Rick Atkinson's American Revolution trilogy, which should get past the Battle of Saratoga.

I’m going to hit 10 today whether that kills me or not >). So if I do manage 10: I read 1 physical book, 1 graphic novel, 2 Audiobooks, 1 short history book, 5 E-books. My most prevalent genre is LGTBTQ+ according to storygraph

And here I was seeing it on my shelf and wondering if I should reread it..

If you didn't care for it, just toss it.

But I'm a believer in the quote by Wilde: “There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written. That is all.”
