Amazing short stories, wonderful abandonment of genre boundaries.

So you like murder? I prefer murder mystery and not murder

Personally I didn't like this collection at all, the stories were too vague. A good short story should still have a beginning and an end, but these started in the middle and ended when the author felt like she should stop writing. And the more experimental stories didn't work at all. I haven't picked up her famous memoir yet because I disliked her writing here so much.

Yeah this.
The Husband Stitch was well done but very visceral. I plan on picking Her Body back up later.

I always assumed it was a mental illness/auditory hallucinations. It's been a few years since I read it, but iirc that particular character goes further and further into her ideologies, going so far as to establish a new religion based on them.
But perhaps that's my own personal reading, given my deep skepticism of the Bible. (I'm fond of the funny idea that the angels described were just peacocks, and someone was tripping hard.)

I had to stop after Husband Stitch because three months later it's still haunting me on a daily basis, so I'm afraid of what the rest will do to me, lmao. I'll pick it back up now that you've reminded me, only bc I'm curious if 8 Bites will hit different for me (history of disordered eating thanks to female family members).
The visceral nature of Husband Stitch, especially the part about how he impeded on her crush on the art model in a creepy way, hit so hard that I actually gasped.

I assume that sadly you must live in a “library desert”. The library systems in the part of the country where I am from in the US are the opposite of what you described.

This was my first thought, too. I LOVE my public library!
But we have to consider that some people may not have access to a local public library. Or that they may not be able to get there for one reason or another. That said, if there IS a library nearby, perhaps that library has home delivery services. Not all do but some do. If I understand correctly, a borrower probably needs to “qualify” to be eligible and the qualifications will vary by the library. Anyway, it’s something to consider.
Additionally, I plugged “netflix for books” into search and came up with a few alternatives. Whether they are good or viable or reputable, I don’t know, but it couldn’t hurt to take a look.

They're free where I live in the US. Also usually they can order the books you want

Hi there. Your post would be better asked in our Simple Questions thread. It helps us keep the main subreddit focused around broader discussion rather topics which only apply to an individual. Thank you!

Not in the USA… not that many books just a hand full in English.

Explain.
Why are they "not that good"? What are they not delivering that you expect they should be delivering, or that's required for them to be "good"?

Libby is the library app in the USA. If you are not in the USA check your local library service for their e-book service.
Kindle unlimited is the Amazon option.

So many moment from both series. Narration makes both series top notch although the books are excellent imo.
Roland yelling at Blaine in the wastelands is also a great moment. Kill if you will but command me nothing!

We could see what it is in the incoming tv-serie (first episode on 31 March, Prime Video)
Yes, all options are on the table. Either it's a God(ddess), or Allie is schizophrenic/got multiple personalities, or (not my own idea but i found it so good that I want to add it) somebody is projecting her thoughts to her (another application of the ''power''), somebody who cannot reach directly to her because she is tetraplegic or terminal, maybe even her real mom.
