When I saw the headline, my first thought was Tamora Pierce! The older (80s-90s) covers are good, and I like some of the most recent covers, but in the 00s & early 10s they went through an ugly photoshop phase, with the worst offender being Mastiff, the 3rd Beka Cooper book, where the cover model looks like her spine must be broken to be in that pose.

The worst thing is, after you've done with the story, you start to look for similar books only to realize that the series that you finished is one of a kind and there are no similar stories or if there are they are not as good.

I very much do. If the writer is good, you get immersed in the characters. And then the party is over and you're forced to part ways.

As an author, I get these especially when I finally finish writing a book, too.

All addictions are bad.

I can’t stand it when those twitchy, disheveled looking individuals with soulless eyes are standing outside of bookstores.

The other day one of them was offering sexual favors in exchange for a copy of Of Human Bondage. It’s a disgrace. Can’t they see what they’re doing to their families? Who are these people?

If your loved ones are in this situation, please do not hesitate to schedule an intervention as soon as they start talking about how similar to our society 1984 is.

I’ve enjoyed Grisham for decades & was looking forward to this one. It was a punish and I struggled to finish. Would have benefited from some pruning (in fact a lot) and the editor needs sacking. The repetition, plot holes, and general mistakes weren’t good. The central characters weren’t enticing either.

Having said that - the premise of the story was great and I did learn a lot about the times and region.

Being cultured and well read is usually seen as a good thing.

Being a book addict (not sure what this really means to you) it's not positive at all, as having an addiction implies it controls your life at least to a certain point.

You can't stop reading even when you should be doing other things? You can't stop buying books even when your house looks like a second hand bookstore warehouse? I don't think its positive at all...
