I'm so sorry but this is so painfully written from the perspective of a man. Women don't just wither and die when they hit 30.

Yes, to all of this and well said too. I'm going to crop this and send it to my Daughter. That was once one of her favorites and I love the quote.

The film "Something in the Dirt"?
Not trying to be dumb or condescending, I remember media wrong sometimes. If this is a book I'd be interested since it seems to have some odd overlap with a movie that I don't think is nominally based on any book.

I sometimes will go into a deep dive of the author or characters/ subject just to keep the buzz. After reading the Terror by Dan Simmons, I went after the whole Northwest Passage history.

Funny, the very first book that ever truly got it’s hooks into me when I was in 5th grade was The Hobbit. I voraciously read through the 300ish pages and when I finished I had this very same hangover and thought, I sure hope there is another book like this somewhere.
Imagine my delight in discovering that Hobbit was merely the prequel to LotR. That said, I recall being disappointed that Frodo replaced Bilbo as the protagonist for the series.

But we still have two books to go in ASOIAF (assuming George ever finishes it)

Your goal, your rules. I personally don't count a book read unless I read it all, but I don't think it's cheating if you count a book that you read the parts you wanted to read.
I set a variety of reading goals each year and I like to be clear on my own rules for myself, but I also reserve the right to change the rules later if what I set up stops working for me.
When I participate in a reading challenge and my reading log, I only count books that I've read from start to finish. However some goals that I set for myself I will count partially read books. For example, this year I have a goal to read or DNF the last 20 books that are on my physical shelf and that moved with me 3 years ago. If I start the book and decide I don't want to finish it, it goes into my pile of books to get rid off and I check it off my list.
I recommend you decide what your goal is for that book and then log it in whatever manner feels right to you.
I'll say I do like that I can mark a book as DNF on Storygraph. You can also create a shelf on GoodReads for partial reads or DNF books, but only if you feel the need to keep a record of it.

The first law trilogy for me, nothing seems to reach it.

Also, I really like the Daunt books next to Hampstead heath. It’s also really close (2 min walk) to Keats house, which is worth a visit on a literary themed trip!

I don't know yet. I don't want it to be a really big part of the story, honestly.
2: I'm a little unsure, because i've been so busy.

I went to London last year also from Canada and included a couple of literary activities on my trip as well. I visited the Charles Dickens Museum and the British Library Treasures Gallery and really liked both. Both have gift shops with books and book-related items. The treasures on display at the British Library are amazing. I also visited Poet's Corner in Westminster Abbey. There's so much history in that city.
