I think we've only begun to scratch the surface really. Most space horror is just being stuck in a place with a monster. It's just a reskin of fantasy, not that different from being stuck in a labyrinth with a minotaur.

Very little space horror explores just how horrific the sheer difference between us and whats out there can be. Stuff like Blindsight or Annihilation.

Or even just contamination horror. You are literally made out of food. Every single moment of your life a horde of microbial life is trying to eat you alive, parasitise you or highjack your cells to force your body to create copies of itself until your body simply fails.

The only reason you're not a failing mind in a decomposing living body right is that your immune system has learned to fight off most other Earth life from eating you alive.

Any life you encounter out there will be unfamiliar to your immune system.

I would never confront anyone about it , I’m not harming anyone , it’s just an intrusive thought something’s that’s been on my mind . It’s just something I keep to myself because Ik people would react this way . I want to kiss my homie but I would never because then my other homies would hate me

The book can't fit in the bag. The bag can't handle that much weight (mostly this in my case). I don't want that much weight on my shoulder at a time. Easy access after immediately sitting down...Also BECAUSE WE F CAN!!!

Because what else can you do about it? Take it from me??? "Pet peeve" lol tiktok is something else...

I am definitely carrying 3 books instead of 1 on way to work today out of spite for this post...

The movie makes fun of the times, the book makes fun of America.

I thought the book was funny. I still can not believe the movie beat Shawshank Redemption at the Oscars.

I've emailed a few authors over the years. Most only once, one fellow twice. You have to be a little patient, these folks have other things to do than clear their email backlog every few hours, but I almost always get a reply within a week, and the replies have always been positive.

Only once did I fail to get a gracious reply, and I feel that was my fault. A favorite author has about 50 short stories spread across half a dozen print collections, all but one decades out of print. I suggested he put together some master collection in ebook form to make it easier for fans to collect all of the stories. He didn't reply.

I feel I should have known better, because on his website he kind of vaguely but firmly mentions he is not interested in revisiting old work and updating it. I was disappointed, but not surprised when he ignored the suggestion and sent no reply.

One of my favorite authors killed off one of the major characters at the end of his series and I broke down and cried. This series and that character saved my life in a very real way by giving me a place fictional or not that I could go. I wrote him an email telling him what it all meant to me and he wrote a very nice email back.

Authors are people just like the rest of us treat them how you would anyone else and be respectful.
