Yeah, that book is William and Sylvie's story. I enjoyed it. Agree with Rose and Julia. They come off as very unlikable.

No but that’s what’s so good about them! In real life there would never be a connection between what happened to Rob and his friends and the current case - we only expect a connection because most mystery novels have that absurd “the two cases 20 years apart have the same culprit!” that really makes little sense sometimes.

I do not think books are the universal better hobby, but watching youtube videos for hours is probably not going to lead to any insights into anything or relaxation.

So I guess the answer, just do not watch youtube videos for hours on end. If you want to use that time to read books, fine, if not, if you wanna do some volunteering or exercise or draw or clean stuff, that is also a good thing. Take a breather from spending hours watching youtube videos, that will be a win, whether you want to read books or not.

I love it in the Anne of Green Gables series, because it helps accentuate the way that Anne sees the world.

It vividly paints a clear image of what is there for the reader. What I find is ironic is that your sentence feels very difficult to read, and needed multiple full stops. I'd rather read a book with decided "purple prose" than writing of the level you just made me read.

I still have to read Villette and the Professor. Wuthering Heights is my favourite book of all time (joint with the Bell Jar). The first time I read it I didn’t like it - didn’t understand why people thought it was such a good love story. Then I read it again with the knowledge that it’s not a positive example of what love looks like - it’s passion, jealousy, selfishness. Now I love it and reread it every few years.
