Anyone can file a police report about anything. It is literally just a paper form.

I had a ~$2000 bike stolen off the street locked up. I filed a report just to cover my ass, even though it was obvious that the cops couldn’t have given less of a shit about it. I ended up tracking it down on FB marketplace and took the bike back myself. But I don’t feel like a pair of AirPods are worth even worrying about—just get another pair, maybe some cheap knockoffs this time.

I think you should hire a private detective, someone who isn’t bound by the limits of a cop working within the system. Like a John Shaft

I had my car broken into and various items stolen when I was in college.

There were fingerprints where the window broke, some blood on the door from a cut, a camera facing my car from the store I parked in front of.

Nobody fucking cared about my car. This is the world we live in, it's just property, make a homeowners claim or replace them.

I’m a woman. What I do is carry a pack of cigs and a lighter. Tbf I am a smoker.

When this happens I give the person a pack of cigs and a lighter.

They can’t smoke in the train or indoors so they leave the premises. I’ve never had someone light up in the train but tbf that’s a possibility.

Cigs aren’t cheap but it’s an expense I’ll pay to get certain people away from me.

Hm.. thank you for taking the time to write this down. It was a ridiculous request on my part for sure. I missed mentioning this before in the post but the manager did go thru the video but the cameras are at an angle and she seees me putting the airpods down but when I pick up stuff from the treadmill, she can’t tell if I picked the airpods or not.

I would not want the person to face the harsh consequences for doing what they did. I wouldn’t want to press charges, even if I could.

And, it does bother me in a healthy way. I might be going a bit far but yea, my friends and my brother have been helping too and they accompanied me to the persons address too.

But you’re right, i will follow up with the police once, if they entertain my request, then great, otherwise I’ll halt my investigations lol
