I kinda liked the plaza one. Would have been really nice to have right in front of the state house.

If you look into the artist you’ll see he’s not actually very good, more of a conceptual artist than skilled one. Plus I’m assuming nobody wanted to tell him it looked like shit

The idea that you could walk up to and under it is cool, being both sheltered and exposed at the same time. The problem is that the goofy looking angle is from the street as you drive by. They should plant some trees behind it to ...."sanitize" this view. For $10m, I think we could get something like that.

That’s a meaningless number, you need to track gallons per degree day. Start putting your oil receipt into a google spreadsheet, enter all the numbers, track your kfactor etc

But if you want a comparison my 3000 square foot house used 2.4 gallons between late October and late December in NH. I have the thermostat go down to 58 at night /daytime and up to 67 for the evening afternoon when everyone is home.

You are probably not insulated in your attic or not enough.

That’s such a shitty thing to say tbh. Not everyone has the luxury to live close to work. Some of us have to schlep from the burbs because we aren’t rich enough to afford Boston/Cambridge. And the Red Line (my transit option) has 12+ minute headways on the BT branch. No one LIKES to be stuck in traffic. It sucks. But there are no other options for some people.

ETA I used to bike year round from Quincy to Kendall but the infrastructure going through DOT continues to get worse and drivers are more aggressive than ever. Not an option any longer now that I have kids and can’t afford to die lol

I think it would look good as a wire frame of just the body with a minimum facade for the face. It wouldn't absolutely balloon the cost but it would still be enough to make sure that you think of it as arms rather than a penis.

It actually looked better in the snow imo.

Half the complaints are that it’s art and not a statue. It has a cool meaning and looks as it’s supposed to from most angles. I bet it grows on people with time.

It's really hard to not see someone either holding a massive turd, or a giant limp dick. It's not on my top 10 list of things to care about, and I have no rage boner, but geez.

It's really unfortunate that the installation's best angles are all very specific. This one is probably it's worst; yet it's the one most visible when walking north on Tremont.
