I am not a lawyer. So this is not legal advice, etc.

As the other responder said: ask them for the agreement you signed that said you’d pay a broker fee.

A verbal agreement won’t count - under contract law any such agreement would require “meeting of the minds” meaning you and the agent understood the same thing. You’re from out of town and had no idea what the broker fee meant so clearly you didn’t have an agreement.

If the agency didn’t have you sign an agreement I’m betting the person who showed you the properties is going to be in trouble with their boss. And that if you just ask them for the signed agreement where you agreed to the broker fee of one months rent they’ll shove off.

You may want to have a lawyer send their lawyer a letter though for emphasis.

Exactly. Enfield is trash, Springfield is trash. Boston is expensive but the pay compensate accordingly in the area, especially if you’re willing to live within a 30-40 min commute it’s not that bad. Moving out of Enfield to Boston is the smartest move to make, Boston is expensive yes, but the quality of life out surpasses basically every city in the northeast by a mile.

I'm gonna get downvoted to shit for this buuuut.... it looks way better in person. All these pictures from a distance far away are clearly not the intended way to view/experience it. the thing is ~20 feet tall, so your main viewpoint is looking up at it. funny how those pics don't make it to the top of r/boston...
One thing that is overlooked are the names inscribed on the walk around it, which is pretty powerful. This is not just about MLK.

Its not a perfect piece of art, but you should really experience it in person before you judge it.

Agree here. I have signed docs and the broker is very clear what I'm signing. If you didn't have a signed agreement, which in my experience has been separate from the lease (but not always!!!), it can't be enforced. They could push back and say it was a verbal contract but that would be pretty hard to prove in court in this case I'd imagine.

Most sculptors agonize over how their work looks from all angles. There are usually months of iterating through versions of different sizes to check what every possible perspective conveys.

I genuinely don't understand how this studio could have missed that this angle would become a meme and a source of mockery.
