Your dentist is ripping you off. I too need cleanings every 3 months, but my dentist bills the extra two at the same rate as she is reimbursed by insurance . Your dentist is charging you "list" price, the reimbursed rate is about half that.

Folks with experience at Harvard -- we advise new hires to negotiate on things other than salary -- course releases, for example. Could OP ask for that?

It feels like it’s been going on for a lot longer than that… I remember going there 23 years ago for some great break beat nights. They had a DJ from Ireland and I can’t for the life of me remember his name but he had some incredible break beat stuff… he did a set one night that was all robot fighting themed and it was really fun. That was probably around 2000/2001?

I agree that you'll be hard pressed to find any dental insurer that will cover four cleanings a year. Maybe you could get the other two at either the Tufts or BU dental schools? I'm sure their wait-lists are long though and you must commit to a much longer appointment since they're teaching schools.

Re:Set at the Phoenix Landing is a weekly techno event that has been running non-stop for 15 years under different names.

It is located in Central Square Cambridge, and occurs every Wednesday night 10PM-2AM.

Edit: Thursday night's 'Keep On' at the Middlesex Lounge is also located across the street in Central Square.

I think with that range you could ask for 65 (just over the midpoint) and then they’ll offer you something in mid-high 50s and then you ask if they can go up at all and they might go up a little or say no but then in either situation I would also suggest asking if they would be willing to provide a sign-on bonus to help get you where you need to be. Almost everyone I know in a staff position at Harvard was able to negotiate a $1,000-2,000 sign on bonus (paid out after your first 90 days). This might depend on which school at Harvard your applying to so ymmv. Good luck!
