$76. I used 29 therms. ~750 sq ft apartment. I keep my place in the high 60s. I have a gas stove and gas water heater. Honestly not sure how the heat works… my electricity bill is pretty steady throughout the months when I don’t have AC on, so I assume it’s gas heat.

I have some friends in Belmont, rent is considerably less than in Cambridge.

Not in the it's little town center though, but plenty of affordability all 'round.

To send out a paper bill, you need:

  • Paper
  • Ink
  • Envelopes
  • Machines to print the bill
  • Machines to fold the bill
  • Machines to put the bill into the envelope
  • Postage

...

To send an electronic bill, you need:

  • Software to arrange the information in a human-readable format
  • An email server

If the discount for declining a paper bill is less than the postage to send it to you, the company is ripping you off. Period.

I have always opted for the balanced billing, so I pay about $155 every month. Except for when the big one comes around March every year it’s about $400-$600. I suspect this year that one is going to be a lot more. But I know it’s coming. I hate being cold in my house, so I budget for a high gas bill.

Also to clarify the range isn't for starting pay. People earning the top of the range have likely been in that grade / position for a loooooooong time. 78k is the top of that pay grade, not the most they'll hire at.

Yeah it sounds like this is LEGO consolidating corporate offices and also a move to reduce the remote workforce. New Boston-based postings for the handful of positions I saw will be in-office three days a week.

Definitely sucks for folks in the CT area that worked there though. The cost of living change will be no joke and I really doubt they'll offer an ample relocation package if at all.

I'd wager this is also a means to tap into engineering/design pools for US-based product development. I think all of that is centralized in Denmark currently.

Ask for it but don't expect it. After five years there i was earning about 60. When you ask have reasons - any relevant work experience that makes you fit the position and environment and if you think you can "grow" the position at all (take on more responsibilities- this should be discussed with your would-be manager before you talk $ with hr).

When I was working at Boston University, I was shocked at how low the salaries were for my same position at Harvard.

When you work for Harvard, they assume you’re gonna do it for their name on your résumé and figure you’ll take the lower end for those credentials.

I was pretty happy working at Boston University. Also their days off schedule was about the best in the Boston area in an educational institution.

A better argument would be the pirate sets with tall ships much like the USS Constitution. Not sure why you're under the impression the Space Shuttle was military in any way. Launching military satellites or potentially having active-duty astronauts doesn't make the vehicle military.

I still think they'll avoid it as those old sets aren't a direct reference to any military vessels.
