I'm not sure that the extra time to get initial heat matters overall. The time difference thing matters for quick cooking stuff, but if you're doing something like boiling a pot of water, cooking chicken in a frying pan, or something like that? The more efficient option is electric by a wide margin.

I've heard from several people who are otherwise unconnected (ie: didn't dine at the same place or live in the same household) who've been hit in the last two weeks.

One of them was told that, because they had a fever, it wasn't food poisoning but likely a GI virus, FWIW.

From my experiences - Canadians tends to prefer fast food style (like Chez Ashton or Harvey's) whereas in the States, poutine leans gastropub style (like your Frite Alors or Poutine Centrale).

I prefer the gastropub style, so Saus hits my sweet spot. Like, I also enjoy the stuff you find in a gas-station Dairy Queen or something - but it's a different class.

While I'm not Canadian, I grew up in Upstate NY and spent a lot of long weekends in Quebec. I still make a pilgrimage to Au Pied de Cochon like ever other year.

I lived in Cleveland Circle for about 5 years. It’s a perfect option for your situation IMO. Easy to get to campus, plenty of food and a bar or two. Direct access to Back Bay and downtown via the C line (and B or D depending on where you live precisely).

I wouldn’t bring a car unless you’ll need it for off campus work or something. The snow isn’t that big of a deal but parking is a nightmare. I had a car the whole time I lived in the neighborhood and it was hit while parked 5 different times. Just a total pain in the ass.

Some other options for you would make more sense with a car (Newton, Chestnut Hill, etc).

Unless the room has a mini-bar, 18 is pretty standard as your legally an adult. I don’t think you’d have an issue as long as you have a credit card.

Carla was in Winthrop or Revere I think, but she probably bounced around apartments for a while before finding her house on the flight path maybe Somerville in the 70s/80s.

Norm was an accountant, decent job, bar was near work not home, he’s taking the train out to Arlington/Melrose.

Sam lived in Back Bay, walk to work, walk to Fenway, lots of places nearby to meet women.

Woody was definitely a Somerville/Cambridge guy.

Diane’s in Harvard Square for sure

Frasier is in Beacon Hill

Cliff and Coach are both along the Red Line between Broadway and Savin Hill.
