Nah, instead he's getting tons of comments blaming him for going out for 20 minutes.

It's like, you try being tethered to a mentally ill wife and 3 young children without being able to get 10 mins to yourself literally EVER for months and months. I know for sure I would crack and most people would too.

Depends on the style. If you want something more dependable and 'California' then El Pelon, Tenoch or Esquite should hit the mark.

Teresa's Market in Brighton is also stellar.

Otherwise, if you want something a little more classic - then Cactus Grill, Taqueria Don Rogue (food truck in Everett), and Taqueria Jalisco won't disappoint.

Honestly, I've been getting my burritos from Rincon Salvadoreno - a little hole-in-the-wall. They're a little basic, but really good bang for your buck and pretty damn yummy. Angela's is awesome, though it's a traditional Puebla-style restaurant, so you should sit down and order anything else. You won't regret it.

Super Burritos is a fun wildcard - you never know if it'll be good! But if it's good, it's fuckin' great.

The people working at the prisons work 8 or 12 hour shifts then get to go home. You try having to be on lockdown at your house with a crazy wife and 3 young children. Can't even leave for 5 minutes for eternity.

Tell me you wouldn't go crazy. Or crack and decide that maybe you could chance grabbing a pizza down the road just to get a break.

Manchester by the Sea. Coda. Social Network. The Fighter is an absolute must to get a feel for Lowell and the dozen small cities scattered around Massachusetts just like it like Fitchburg and Fall River. The main character and the city both represent a kind of "trashy and fallen from glory" you see all around the state.

Kevin Can Go F**k Himself takes place in Worcester.

I'm not sure what the practical value of community college is. Sending people to school for a year or two to earn credits that may or may not transfer well to a 4 year (aka tuition charging school) seems like a pointless endeavor. And the associates itself- very few jobs require an associates, most that would require one just require the HS diploma so the associates is kind of a pointless degree.

> Not to mention his hateful statement to the educators "You are all replaceable".

It is insanity that school leaders think this in a post-pandemic world. If they think teachers are replaceable they might want to look at their SchoolSpring postings.

Our principal likes to blame staff for poor school culture...maybe because they fire people who may not have been the best teachers in Year 1 without giving them a chance, and would rather leave unfilled positions open as a result.

Yes, that's how the breakdown is.

I'm not in Woburn and admit I'm confused about the 3-3-3 ask if the SC has already presented 10 over the course of the contract...unless the union presented an original 3-3-3-3 that had other asks in it.

5-2-2 is a "benefit now, less later" deal because the retro raise would be higher. A higher retro check would slightly soften the blow of having to wait so long for it.

Somewhat off-topic, but… for anyone who loves train stories, I highly recommend the classic silent film "The General" from the 1920's… stars the great comedian Buster Keaton (who also co-directed it). He did his own very dangerous, potentially deadly stunt-work on the film. It's based on a true-life story from the American Civil War. I believe there are other filmed versions of the story, including Disney's "The Great Locomotive Chase"… but I've only seen the Keaton version. Fantastic.

A little out of the box, but Picture a Scientist. It isn’t about Boston per se, it’s about women in science/academia, but faculty at BU and MIT feature prominently. To the extent academia is a huge part of Boston culture and economy, it’s a pretty enlightening documentary. I think it’s currently on Netflix.

Also not about Boston specifically, but the recent documentary Augmented covers Hugh Herr from MIT and bionics/plastic surgery collaborations with Brigham and Womens. It’s available for streaming through PBS.

Andrea Campbell faced off against Michelle Wu, literally the worst matchup.

Wu worked for Warren's 2012 senate race, heading up Warren's outreach group to get votes from the black, LGBT & women communities, particularly in Boston.

Thus, Wu had a strong black outreach a full 3 years before Campbell even ran for city council.

If you wonder why the Boston black community voted overwhelmingly for Wu over Campbell & Janey, it's because Wu has done a lot more outreach with the black community than either Campbell or Janey, for a longer period of time, as Wu started her black outreach campaigning a full 3 years before Campbell ran for city council, a full 5 years before Janey ran for city council & Wu started her outreach under Warren's hugely funded first senate race.

So when Wu ran for mayor, she already had 9 years of black outreach, a larger ground team & had the support of Senator Warren's team too.

You're complaining that there was a mere 14,761 vote difference between Wu & Campbell, but fail to state that Wu had 36,060 votes vs Campbell's 21,299 votes, meaning that Wu had a 69% lead over Campbell. Campbell needed to almost double her votes in order to match Wu. A 14,761 vote lead wasn't a small lead - in the Boston mayor race, it was an enormous lead.
