I own a 2,000 sqft condo and neither my electric nor my gas bill are that high, and we keep the house at 68 all day because I work from home. You are getting screwed and "the unpaid bills of other tenants get spread across the building" sounds incredibly illegal.

Granted I’ve only used them once but the guys they sent were well-trained in handling stairwells with large items, I’d definitely second the recommendation for OP.

Jumping on to say that I paid $800 for my basement (one big room) in the ‘burbs last year through the contractor we were already using for a remodel. $950 in Boston proper doesn’t sound too far off.
