Yeah the storage is the real kicker. I know two people that bought one and got frustrated with it pretty quickly - especially when "Smart" Delivery forces you to install the Series version of a game if it's available. They had a few Xbox One games on an external HDD just fine which got ugrade, and were forced to install to the paltry 350GB.

Exactly. The Series S is a trap for all but the most casual gamers. As soon as you get frustrated with the small storage and by the upgrade, you've almost paid for a PS4 or Series X. Not to mention the savings from physical discs.
The one time I saw it make sense was when my buddy got one for his daughter's college dorm room. She is a super casual gamer without much time for it.
It's a pretty cool little system for what it can dobut it's just very niche.

I love how these posts disrespect the market leader and the true innovator. Ps5 and Microsoft are just downgraded PCs. The only console is the Switch. Brings something new and innovative, not just wannabe PCs. I have owned every Playstation and Sega device except PS5.

I'd advise everyone bar the most casual user against a Series S - no disc drive, much lower spec than the Series X/PS5, 350GB of usable storage (in the era of games clocking in over 100GB this just doesn't cut the mustard), and while the storage is expandable, it's also proprietary and very expensive (a 1TB upgrade is about 250 bucks, and it's also much slower than PS5 storage, the equivalent of which is usually - if not more than - 100 bucks less).

Are you wanting the X or the S? That’s a big difference. I’d go with the Xbox if you like Xbox exclusive games, also, Xbox is buying out activision which is HUGE. Playstation will now have to catch up after Xbox announced that buyout.
On the other hand, Playstation has ALOT of good games as well. It honestly depends on you.
Microsoft/Xbox has better pricing and availability and they also have some banger exclusives.
Sony/Playstation is more expensive but has better internals. They have less production so it’s hard to find. Playstation has great games & a HUGE library of exclusives. Almost 5 times as many as Xbox.

Ohhh I think I get this now please correct me if I’m wrong, so your able to play games straight from your 4TB HDD because they are older games but for the newer games that need to be on the internal storage you have a 5TB HDD so you can keep some on the internal, and are able to play those straight away and the other games that you can’t fit which are on the 5TB you just swap them and move something on the internal storage to the 5TB HDD in order to play the game you wanted to?

For the X|S consoles the new-Gen games only work on internal storage, you can’t run them off an external HDD. The alternative to shuttling is buying one of those proprietary storage cards which are like $300 for a 1TB internal storage expansion, which is obviously dumb as bricks.

Quick question, so I get the shuttling part but what I don’t get is why are you moving stuff to internal storage? And why do you need a while other storage thing for it?

Also yes it definitely would be if you bought an Xbox. Current gen consoles are definitely better, especially comparing a 9 year old console

I’d wait till PS5 is in stock it’s better for a PS fan. Especially if from 2013. If it’s like 3 months of something I’d just go with the Xbox

One more question: do either console require some sort of online membership or whatever, to do basic 1P or split screen?

I don’t use discs anymore, just digital storage.
My Xbox Series X has two external HDDs attached to it: one for everything pre X|S (4TB) and one for shuttling X|S titles to internal storage (5TB)
Shuttling is when you move games back and forth from HDD to HDD instead of deleting and having to download games again, so have I like 40 X|S games installed even though my internal HDD can’t hold nearly that many. The transfer rate is between 500mbps and 1000mbps so the largest games only take like 10-15 minutes to transfer.
I also have a Series S at my work desk and an Xbox One X in the bedroom, both of which receive games from the Series X via Network Transfer so I’m only ever downloading games once even though I may be using them on various consoles.
Digital is the SHIT

If you have your eyes on the PS5 which you mentioned first I think you would end up disappointed by the Series S. If you're interested in Xbox the Series X is the way to go if you go that route.

They came out at the same time. Despite the difference in power, the Series S and X are the game generation.

I'd don't think you can go wrong with either PS5 or Xbox, although you may want to consider the Series X.

Okay thanks that really helps me and just one last thing I want your opinion, do you think that buying your game’s digitally was bad, as in do you feel that it was too expensive and that you could have gotten cheaper if you bought second hand games. I just wanna know cuz I don’t want to regret buying a no disk console
