Play which one that has your preferred exclusives. As an xbox player I am not a big fan of Halo so I would buy a PS3 for things like God Of War and MGS4.

I know that Halo for OGXbox had servers runing for more than 2 decades and there's still a lot of servers kept by fans, however, I wouldn't use network services aa reasn to choose device from that era. I personally, hunt for both of them in relativelly low price, but I'm a hoarder. In fact, if I would want to use online services I would personally look between XOne/PS4, du to fact, that community will live longer and they still can get a lot of benefits from owning PSN/XboxLive subscription, and first releases are in similar prices (especially in my area), as last X360/PS3.. You know, only small percent games is in GamePass that was desifned for 360, same as fac that they currently give games for PS4 & 5 in PSN...

So if OP has to choose, anybody actually, I would suggest different factors, like listo of single titles you're interested in, or accessability of games in your area..

Yeah it sounds like the series S will be a nice little placeholder. They go on sale too, my friend picked up one for $200usd right before Christmas, and it came with a gift card lol. Target I think.

Ok I get it. Yes, I agree with you about the 4k. Infact I'm very happy with my 2k 140hz monitor. I compared my 4k TV with the monitor and there isn't very noticeable differences. I must say that with the games that support 120hz I never used the 4k resolution but I always preferred performance. That's a noticeable difference. Some months ago ps5 started to support natively the 1440p at 120 Hz and with some games (like miles morales for example) it's a joy for the eyes.

It upscales to 4K and some games like the tourist will run 4k natively. But yeah, 1440p is the native max typically. It’s game dependent and also you can toggle performance versus quality mode in most games (forza 5 has it)

Unless your TV has HDMI 2.1 it won’t be too noticeable tbh. I borrowed a friends series X to compare when I was trying to decide if I wanted to upgrade. If I had a $2000 oled hdmi 2.1 tv? I get a series X because it’s gorgeous.

I have a Black Friday special 4K tv. 60hz. HDR. Looks brilliant with my series S. Looked basically the same on my couch with the series X lol.

What console did you have last? If you didn't own Xbox then I would go for the series S. The reason being is hardly no games are out for either Xbox or Playstation. But if you didnt own the Xbox One then you get to play A LOT of games you missed out on with the gamepass or downloading cheap games in sales. I would then over the next 3 years lets say save up for the PS5, then that will have plenty of games out by then.

The thing is as well you said you have never owned an Xbox. So you dont just get the extra power you get all the games you missed out on for years. Its 100% worth it. The only time I would say it isnt is if you had an Xbox One X

You can play Xbox One and older games off the HDD, but newer next gen games (series S/X games, there will be an icon) games off the SSD. But the new games can be transferred to the HDD for storage, but must be transferred back to play.

90% of the games on gamepass I play off my HDD. I play my series S regularly and I’m probably not considered a “casual” user anymore. However, I feel no need to upgrade to the series X because I play on a 1080p gaming monitor lol.

Ah ok, so I could also use a USB HDD. But is there some games that will not work with it? Forza Horizon example. If I correctly understood, I could pass it to the HDD. But after can I play it or do I need to move it again on the console? I'm trying to understand how the HDD management works.

I’d recommend an external usb HDD (doesn’t have to be an SSD) for older games that are in the backlog. Also if you want to move the new next gen ones over. Takes about 5 mins for forza to transfer in my experience.

Yeah but I think they’re doing the at just because of the stock. Literally none are found so they need to make games for the PS4. When stock comes back and is consistent I think they’ll finally just make PS5 exclusives ONLY
