Both basically the same, i guarantee if you had them side by side running the same game it would be very difficult to tell the difference, look up the youtube channel, digital foundry they will answer all your questions

PS5 UI is 4k. XSX is 1080p. There's nothing you can do to change that. Can't remember why Xbox did that but it had something to do with saving RAM space. (EDIT. Xbox released a 4k version. Not sure if it's native 4k or upscale or reconstructed though.. hence the difference you see)

Also when the games first released, the consoles were tested on several games. PS5 outperformed XSX on several games, while rarely loosing out. Digital foundry, VG tech and Another channel tested them. I remember seeing the first 5 games tested, 3 of which were new gen, the last 2 were previous gen. PS5 beat the XSX in graphics fidelity sometimes. But mostly on framerate.

It got so bad that the AC Valhalla had way higher res pixel count on PS5, and higher fps too...that Xbox complained at which there was a patch released which made the PS5 graphics and fps WORSE. BUT it still outperformed the XSX. PS5 fans were outraged at PS5 getting a "patch" when it didn't need one, which only detuned the performance.

So generally speaking, graphics are usually the same or close enough. They're usually fixed but some games have adaptive reconstructed resolution techniques which means the resolution can reach 4k, but can dip below when it's demanding. On those games PS5 had higher resolution. But when it's fixed. Its the same obviously. But then the PS5 most certainly offers better fps, especially on 120fps mode where there's huge gap.

Aside from this mode, there's not always necessarily huge differences. It's still neck and neck pretty much

Make sure you are plugged into an HDMI jack that supports 4k, and that you have all the settings appropriate for each console - VRR, 120, Dolby Vision, etc. Not all HDMI inputs on TVs will support all input types, and a mismatch would do what you are describing. Also make sure your cable actually supports 4k - I've had some "4k" cables do some wonky things to signal.

I have both a XBSX and a PS5 plugged into my Sony 4k OLED, and they look equivalent. Any differences in quality are subjective. I will say the XBSX feels "snappier" in the menus, though the PS5 has a better interface IMHO (though both are a bit info-barf-y compared to the PS3 era).

I know you’re saying that it’s expensive to buy a ps5 in Canada but across the pond it’s £445 for disc version and I don’t HAVE to get a psn account. A PC would cost me £1200 minimum for a good one that’ll run the games I want to play so there’s no way it’s cheaper in the long run. Especially if a component breaks or is outdated cause the price of them is overly inflated.

Nope

A ps5 Console in Canada is around 700$ after tax in Canada Ontario just the box then online for one year is 80$ + one new game at 100$ after tax.

Did anyone here unlike me actually do the math before posting.

In one year alone you spend 880$ cdn. + 80$ for the next 5 years until the next box is out. We already paid for one year so that's at 1280$ cdn. Like I said the cost of a full brand new computer.

And kiddos you do not need to buy the brand new Nvidia 4090/80/70

An AMD 6600xt is much more powerful than a gpu in a ps5 and it's only 300$ before tax.

That was all I had to pay to keep up this gen with my PC build over the last 3 gems.

PCs aren't that upgradable. Short term, of course they are, memory, GPU, storage. But on the timescale of console generations (5-7 years) absolutely not. A commodity PC that is half a decade old can only sensibly be upgraded by replacing it. You might get 10 years out of a really well made and specced PC by upgrading it along the way, but that would have cost much more than a console to buy in the first place, let alone the subsequent upgrades.

You are so wrong. I could have bought 4 Xbox Series X for the cost of my gaming PC and I'm not gonna spend that much on subscriptions for it over the lifetime of the console. The store thing is true but I haven't actually bought a single game for the Series X as I just use gamepass.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but no.

Your rant sounds more emotionally charged with opinions rather than facts.

80dls a year is cheap. Amd you get around 30+ games with that. A new consoles costs 500 dls.

A gaming PC costs 1000dls, just to barely mimic a ps5 in power (4k-60fps). Buying a new gpu for instance will double that cost easily.

Games in the Playstation store go on sale very often. X-box has Gamepass.

Both have different pros and cons, but cost is definetely out of the question. PC are definitely more expensive.

My PC actually cost waaaaaaaaaay more than I've ever paid for any console!!

I could actually buy another Series X and 15 years of Gamepass Ultimate for approx the same money.

If I remember right the GPU alone cost twice as much as a Series X or PS5.

I think your salty that your parents never bought you a console :) /s
