Depends. Ask his friends what system they’re playing on. If he is new to gaming, he will be playing plenty auf games in the series X bc of the backwards compatibility and the game pass. Also there are coming plenty of games in 2023 to the Xbox eco system and gamepass(I hope so). Right now, PlayStation has the best rated exclusives and an offer like gamepass, but not that strong as the gamepass.

All games and services aside, in my opinion, it’s the beste experience If you have friends to play on with.

PS4 already has a huge library of used / discounted games, but won't be supported for future titles for much longer.

Series S will have games coming out for it over the next 5 years or so.

Which is more important to you?

Switch lite if you just like to chill and save energy on tv and controllers. Plus it can be played everywhere like a regular switch.

Sorry for suggesting it.

IMO, PlayStation has more must-play exclusives, but Xbox Game Pass is (currently) better than PlayStation’s subscription program. If you really want to play God of War and/or Last of Us, go PlayStation; if you prefer to cast a wider net and play games you may not have discovered otherwise, I’d recommend Xbox.

Bar nintendo, Sony and Microsoft offerings both achieve pretty much the same outcome. There will be slight differences on either side. Series X is a little cheaper and probably easier to get hold of though.

Both platforms have a good range of exclusives.

Both have their own game library to use (sort of like the Netflix model but for games). One plus Sony has over Microsoft here is that you can actually stream a game before downloading. Saves time on games you may not like.

Honestly series X is the best choice in my opinion, not a fan of console wars.

Reason is all your license stay with you through generations

They perform better with enhancements.

Cloud saves for free

XCloud for cloud gaming with your cloud saves.

Your purchased licenses will be able to be played on the cloud soon

Gamepass.

And Microsoft rewards.

Xbox One, Xbox One X/S, and Xbox Series all support KB/M. However, only the games that support it too allow use with it. For ex., For Honor, Dauntless, and Subnautica don’t. Minecraft, Roblox (In-game only), and War Thunder, do. It all depends on what you’re playing.
