Indeed. And I think the short answer to the question is actually "yes". It's a great system for $300. It just seems like it would cost more than a Series X over the course of its life span for many people.

Thats fair assessment. If game pass is ordered as well then the answer is definitely yes, but with just console and digital only games, I guess answer depends on how much you are willing to spend extra on those games

It's good if you use it with a 1080p tv as designed. Otherwise you want the series X. Sony dropped the ball epically with the PS5 so don't bother with it 👍👍

Yes but as soon as you buy memory for it you're in Series X territory. Also, buying a few $5 or $10 used games (or trading/borrowing) that would otherwise be $60 digitally closes the gap.

If you want to play a lot of games then the game pass on the Xbox is probably the best I’ve seen but if you are planning on playing something that has better exclusives then go with the ps4 also if your budget is in the 500 or less range pick up a ps4 pro for 4K graphics. Yeah it’s entry level 4k but it makes the experience much better Xbox also has a 4K gaming console I just forgot the name

The ps5 will give you some better story based exclusives. As far as the variety of games it goes to the Xbox since you’re picking up again from the ps2 both controllers will be odd at first but you’ll get used to whichever console to get. Ps5 will in a few years have the same amount of games that Xbox has to offer do to them also now adding in the feature to stream old games. But both are just as good imo and it’s up to you. If you wanna enjoy the quality of the graphics for now I would say ps5 because the exclusives make better use of the new gen system

Normally, I would say Series X from X-Box, just because of its' greater availability and ease of access in the gaming market. But - given your description of yourself being someone coming out of gaming retirement and that you're looking into solo gaming, then I am sorry, but the PS5 wins hands down...

Sony has been known for some of its' stellar solo games. Properties such as Uncharted, Last of Us, God of War, Spider Man are some among the many exclusive properties for the PS5. As a solo gamer, there is no other console that takes solo gaming to the next level like the Playstation. That being said, I said earlier that I am sorry. That's because no one will fault you for not wanting to spend your grandparents' entire inheritance money on a new PS5 console, because that is what it's going to cost you to get one. Moreover with how large these games are, you will need to invest in an SSD drive right from the beginning, which will cost you anywhere from 200 bucks more to...way way more. All in all, once you're done, all of this will set you back a 1000 bucks or close to it.

I am a Sony fan but I refuse to trade my left testicle and kidney to get a game console. Some don't mind, but I do. Because of its' short supply and the current unreal resale price, you're better off taking your chances with the Series X. I personally am just going to wait this storm out to get my PS5.

Xbox is the ultimate console for gamers bro. The PlayStation is a fashion statement, and the xbox actually gives you a better experience overall. The PlayStation exclusives do not justify buying the console eitherl, considering what games are on xbox.

Series X as the main is the no brainer this generation, and a ps4/ps4pro for the few PlayStation exclusives if desired. Sony has epically dropped the ball with the PS5 and there is likely a ps5pro coming soon to better compete with the series X 👍👍

Series S as you will need some sort of Microsoft device for all the best exclusives going forward. The ideal setup is a series X as the main and a ps4pro for the few PlayStation exclusives 👍
