Why do you focus on the teraflop count so much?

It’s a console, it’s not a pc. A pc with better specs is objectively better than one with worse specs, but they can both play the same games and do the same things. PS5 exclusives are incredible games, god of war, uncharted, ghost of tushima, the last of us, and I can go on for much longer. All of those games are inaccessible on Xbox. The PS5 is a better console if you buy your games directly and don’t use game pass.

kinda dude. ive been saying for a while now that i also regretted buying next gen and that its not really ready yet. i bought a ps5 when they were newish. but since buying one i have found myself getting fed up and bored wit the lack of games and lack of newer game replay value or even lack of fun content in general. it could be my age..... im 37M but finding games just quite boring now. older games are still fun though (and there are exceptions... like i did enjoy elden ring - but again only single play through then its boring again) so im not sure. its not like i find them too difficult or anything (still a gamer at core), but just that the content feels emptier now. full of graphics and great sounds and physics but no soul. also only seems to be the same games getting knocked out every 6 months.

but getting more specific.... i dont feel theres enough games out for ps5 to actually warrant the price tag, yet. otherwise its a fantastic bit of hardware, which i use mostly as a super ps4. the majority will end up playing ps4 games on it mostly (but only due to lack of choice of actual good ps5 games) and for that its actually brilliant!

probably not a popular opinion but an honest one from an older fart

summary:

Ps5 is not worth it yet unless you want to use it as a super fast ps4 or have a very few selection of games for a hefty price tag.

Physical media has many many advantages. You can trade in games. You can collect games. You get art work. You can buy a physical game for a present and wrap it. You get better deals when games go on clearance. Yes digital games can also go on sale, but all the money you put to digital games go to the corporation. You will never see any of that money back.

If you like to have a lot of obscure games get a PS5 with a disc. If you are more of a mainstream gamer get an XBOX. Xbox also has easy storage expansion that PS5 does not. Running out of room? Uninstall it because you already have a DISC for reinstall.

This is what executives want you to think. But part of what makes games fun to buy and collect is art work, and collecting. If you take that out of it I for one would buy less games. There are many small companies taking digital only games and putting them on physical media and business is booming.

I have both consoles and both are collecting an equal amount of dust. I have both PS+ and Gamepass, neither of which have increased or influenced my gaming habits in any sustainable manner.

Do I regret buying them? No, not really. But I'm certainly not getting much use out of them either and I suspect it's because the games just don't move me anymore. I spend more time playing my older consoles or my Switch because, for me, they simply are more fun.

Well done, very clever 🤤 everyone knows that to have a pc that runs as good as a modern console you will spend more money. Not to mention sitting back in a couch is way comfier than shrimping over a desk. Let's just leave it there though pal, the votes show you're chatting breeze and I'm not gonna be the guy you have your daily reddit argument with 😅
