nah... ,sorry, I am changing my mind after watching some more reviews and finding a good deal for 229eur for series S, this console will be enough for me and my wife. The only pullback is price of Crash Bandicoot, but other games can be bought on sale under 20eur, which is not that much in the end.
I found GTA V for 15, old NFS for 3.99eur, Mafia: definitive edition: 13.99 etc...

I think that's the right call for your situation. It's a better system and it will likely be more affordable in the long run than the Series S.

Buying digital is going to be the new normal so may as well accept it. There are many big sales throughout the year with smaller weekly sales on Xbox live store. Black Friday Sale right now and lots of great deals. I have a Series X but it's all digital for me.

Thank you, then most probably I will go with Xbox series X, my budget was 300 eur for second hand PS4, but it is worth to add 200 eur extra to save on games overall and have more powerful 4k console. PS5 is not in stock in my country and if I find some shop that has it, it is 700+ eur

That's right. You'll be a slave to digital sales if you have a console without a drive. Even when digital games are on sale, they're still more expensive than used (and sometimes new) physical copies are all year long.
Dark Souls 3 with DLC is 6 years old. It's $20 new at Walmart or you can pay $80 online. Just an example. If you look, you can find used physical copies of games under $10 at thrift stores, yard sales or even borrow/trade with friends or work colleagues. I found a stack of PS4/Xbox One games for $1 each at Goodwill over the summer. Digitally, they were each between $40 - $60 and I can sell/trade them.
Think about how long you'll have (and use) the console you're buying. In that time frame, you're likely to actually save money (and have a more powerful system) by having a console that accepts physical copies. I strongly recommend the PS5 w/ disc drive or Xbox Series X. If you have a PC, then I'd go with PS5 just because PC has access to all of the Xbox games.

Interesting because pre-owned is the only option here in the UK.

I'm pushing 40hrs on GT7, enjoying it and only just scraping the surface. I had no idea it was received badly though... I'm curious so I'll look into that!

A handful of games? There are a ton of games you can play on PlayStation but not on Xbox. It would be short sighted to buy the last gen PS4 when you could get a PS5 and play both existing games and new ones to come. There has never been an instance where the previous console has continued to get support throughout the newer consoles life, so PS4 support absolutely will disappear. I'm not sure you're right about PS4 still being manufactured either... They certainly don't seem to be available at retail in the UK. I'm not trying to say PS5 is the better choice over a Series X. All I am saying is that you can't say the Series X is the right choice either.

It just doesn't make sense to buy a Series X if you want to play games that are only on PlayStation. Also, PS4 support will fade away and new games will be current gen only.

If someone is interested in playing God of War, Gran Turismo and Spiderman then the Series X would be the wrong choice, not the no brainer. Both consoles have their strengths but neither of them is right for everyone.
