Pretty much. Just for a comparison there (granted it's not perfectly like for like) I booted up PS4 AC Odyssey, and PS5 AC Valhalla.

From hitting "continue" on the title screen to being able to control your character, Odyssey took over a minute, Valhalla was 13 seconds.

Saints Row 3 Remaster took 8 seconds from pressing continue to being in the open world.

I haven't really done any side by side comparisons with the two consoles, but have watched a bunch of Digital Foundry videos. They're effectively the same - Series X will sometimes have slightly higher resolution but slightly lower framerate. In most cases you'd have to go through the games with a tooth comb to really see any differences

I'm just saying, not everyone can afford a good PC. And so I don't think it's fair to tell someone to get a PC instead of a Xbox. And if he is asking to get one console out of two, I don't think it's completely fair to just write one of them off and say "get a PC".

Series x if you aren't invested in Sony exclusives or PS5 if you are invested in those exclusives.

PS5 also has better recording out of the box if that's anything important to you.

He asked about getting a console. And besides, good PCs are stupid expensive. And the price point is one of the major allures of having a console. And besides, Sony is starting to put their games on PC, so eventually the argument could be made that you don't need a console. But consoles have always been more popular for a reason. Even though PCs can do more, most people want a simple way to play their games.

As a Series X owner, I do not regret my choice. It's an amazing console, and despite what people say, it has amazing games. This isn't the 8th generation anymore, there isn't a clear winner. You can't really go wrong with either one. I prefer Xbox for the variety in games, and the amazing value that game pass brings. Although if you like the kind of exclusives Sony has, go with a PS5. But I personally recommend the Series X.

Agreed. I had 3 Ps5‘s which all sounded like electric trimmers when playing a bit more demanding games. Meanwhile the Series X is not silent either, but the only sound it generates is a low humming noise. I’d say Xbox has a better build console while Sony has a better controller.

I all ways mainly had a PlayStation they have all the games I what to play and the exclusive are the ones for me. But Xbox has one of my favourite games halo and gears. All in all go for a ps5.

Depends on what your friends have.

If you're going to be occasionally solo playing and offline, I'd go with the cheapest gamepass.

If you're a good gamer who like exclusives, prolly PS5.

In between the Xbox and the monitor:

  • selected between FPS/Standard mode
  • Turned ON VRR
  • Turned ON AMD Freesync Pro
  • Turned ON HDR
  • Turned OFF energy saving mode
  • On Xbox you must: Turn 4K Off, switch resolution to 1440p and below switch to 120hz. Otherwise it will upscale.

I think that's about it.

Gaming PC plus PS5 is the way. Get the ps5 and save for your PC. Hopefully you can get your pc by the time the Bethesda and Activision exclusives start dropping.
