Series S slaps, I've had this Xbox S for ages and it's still going strong, albeit it sometimes lags a bit on YouTube and very occasionally turns off. Also some games are pretty laggy even Minecraft is laggy but only laggy when I'm near big structures/builds or near alot of mobs lol...but I've had this Xbox for ages now I reckon 5 years or so and the updates are great too..I really like when they change the look of the side bar options and just over all Xbox visual look is cool too.

Get the switch and move up to the Xbox in a couple years. Nintendo easily has the most child friendly game library, and the portability is good for kids as they won't be hogging the TV all the time + can take it to their mates gaff and play it in the car or whatever.

Xbox is great and game pass is fantastic, with a decent library of kid friendly games. but for a five year old... switch is without a doubt the way to go.

PlayStation's demographic is casual adult gamers. They have some great exclusives, but not much child friendly stuff deffinately not the right choice here

Also I saw you talking about Minecraft, I've not got a switch and someone says it doesnt run great, but you can always Bluetooth a controller to a tablet or phone and play that way (or with touch controls if you really want). In my experience Minecraft can run on anything bar a toaster so I'm surprised switch has issues. Regardless. There are plenty of ways to play Minecraft, and save files and realms (personal servers) should work fine across all devices as long as you are signed into your Xbox account πŸ‘

Switch will die if repeatedly dropped, absolutely great console, but the good games hold their price so are not cheap. It would have to remain docked.... may as well get an xbox and game pass is incredibly good. I have three kids I had a switch early on, which they totally appropriated, they all prefer Xbox.

Well, there is PlayStation all stars if you are into smash like fighting games. But Ratchet and Clank is e10 I think and it is a really good platform/shooting game. Like there are so many, I would do some googling and see what stands out to you!

Switch is great when little kids step on it and break the screen, lose the controllers, and cough and sneeze fluids all over the screen when using it. /s

The Switch is NOT for kids that age unless it's put up away from them and they are using a couple of pro controllers. And since that's the way that would be safest for them and the console, you may as well spend less money and get a used PS4 and an extra controller and really guage their interest

My switch is heavily used hand held and connected to TV, and I have owned it over a year now . It is working great, and the battery is still great. It looks fantastic on the TV, and it is worth buying for Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild alone.

Add to that the fact Zelda Tears of the Kingdom releases 2023 and the new OLED switch has released it is a great time to be buying a Switch.

I only have one controller, and I've had no complaints. Animal Crossing New Horizons can be played 2 players with half a controller each, and when playing one player, it can be attached to a base controller to give a PlayStation controller type feel sort of.

I'm a PS4 and Switch owner.
