A few consoles have had minor expansions that can be added. N64, Sega 32X, etc. But that's usually just more memory or a new media to allow for more game content (but not actually "upgraded"). Actually changing the graphics capabilities would be more difficult to implement and you'd just end up with a multi-tiered systems of games and hardware that would essentially remove the main selling points of consoles. Adding those kind of features would lose more customers to PC gaming than it would gain through added features.

No. Consoles are designed to be as compact as possible and this means everything is soldered onto the mobo. The video card isn’t plugged into a slot like a pc. Its more like a laptop or tablet.

The VCR is doing RF modulation if you wanna get a stand-alone box for that.
RBTropical t1_iziuztn wrote
Yes, but it would take a series of adapters with likely enough input lag it wouldn’t be usable, or high end adapters with a fairly painful price tag.
- HDMI - AV composite
- AV composite - RF modulator
- IEC coax/F plug/BNC (depending on what your modular connector is) to screw terminal adapter cable. You could probs MacGyver this by chopping up a cable.
If you got a decent high end low lag version of number 1, number 2 shouldn’t add much/any lag and number 3 is just a cable, so you MIGHT be ok. You’d be better off finding a CRT with component though and adapting HDMI to that.
This is a cheap box that claims to do it all - you’d just need an IEC coax to screw terminal cable - but I’d imagine the HDMI to composite part of the box’s conversion is poor and would cause input lag. If you just want this for a meme or to watch movies though it would work.

This wouldn’t do the job. You’d need to take the composite output and convert this to RF with another box, and then adapt F plug (likely) or BNC or coax AC to screw terminals.

🤣 if you think fanbase doesn't matter you're delusional, that's a very important aspect, especially online. also i never said I chose based on looks, but overall I prefer the Xbox look, doesn't mean that's the reason I chose it. You sound like a dumb ps fanboy. 🤣🤣🤣Wanker

What does the fanbase have to do with playing games? Especially single player games. And those are the same people that own xbox or ps. Children will be children no matter what brand their parents bought them.
Looks of what? Console? You care more about that than games? That is dumb my friend. Performance is practically identical. Some games run better at ps some at xbox. But it's such a minimal difference that it's not even worth of consideration.
And yes, you won't be able to play those 2 games. But if you didn't get an xbox, you wouldn't be missing out on anything basically, since they don't release anything, and if they do, it's not good in most cases.
You literally chose looks of the console and menu over games that you wanted to play. And you were in a market of buying a console for GAMES.
I don't know man, sounds pretty dumb to me.

As others have said you may as well get a PC. Only being able to upgrade the GPU would just result it in being bottlenecked by the old processor and memory anyway, so whilst you’d see an improvement in some areas you’d never get the performance upgrade you’d be expecting, especially for the money spent on a new card.

For a while, Valve was marketing “Steam Boxes”; small-form-factor PCs designed to act like consoles. Pretty sure those has upgradable graphics cards.
Other than that, the only two actual console examples I can think of are Neo-Geo and Sega 32X.

It definitely is. Just really depends on how you want to go about it. For the most part it will take a daisy chain of devices. Screw terminal to coaxial adapter. Then most vcr's will have the ability to take an RCA input out to that coax adapter. So from there you just need an HDMI to RCA. There are easier ways and more convoluted was for sure.

As other pointed, changing internals is a PC thing, but at this point XBox seems to be quite close in general software concept to this. Meaning since XBox One, the console OS is the same and allows to run the same games transparently and it looks like Ms will continue this, so it's possible future XBoxes could be seen as a simple hardware upgrade (though you still get a whole new box), instead of a new platform like all generations in the past.
