He was asking why the OP said that “data is” is incorrect, if we’re getting pedantic here

Why do you say data is plural? It is very commonly used as a mass noun, and the Merriam-Webster usage guide considers this to be standard.

It really doesn’t indicate much in respect to GDP. OP is only displaying how many quarters each country has but France/UK have far more nickels and dimes than Canada.

Damn then. I'll have to find a better anachronism. Sigh!

Depends on the context. “Datum” is used frequently in many engineering fields.

Data is a plural noun, the singular form is datum.

I regularly hear about top companies paying less tax than I do per year, I can’t imagine that it would be similar

That doesn’t work anymore. The US taxes global income regardless of where it’s located, and it can be repatriated tax-free

Ireland and other tax havens would be ranked very well if it was legal HQ location

Datum is singular, but archaic I think. I use it just to be an asshole.

Yeh, I travel, 43 countries so far in my early 30s. Yeh I have been to China, please teach me how to "see" an annual gdp growth lol. No one is saying they are not growing, but they lie about by how much. You can found plenty of under-occupied development, empty ghost cities. Also China said I think 15 people died from covid last few weeks after the full re-opening, you believe that too? Lol so hilarious, yet you believe in Chinese politicians so easily.
