Kathmandu is pretty surprising tbh, due to lack of any skyscrapers.

You can't assume everyone knows the precise chronology of American history.

The only thing more embarrassing than US defaultism is failing to realize that the left 6 on this list are from the same metro city of Manila in the Philippines, and that there are only 5 actual cities on this list that aren’t cities within a larger metro city.

Filipino here,
There is a huge crisis with overpopulation in the Philippines (duh).
But what’s worse is the Catholic Church who pretty much runs the country is against birth control and condoms.

Ok for the aridity in the east, but there used to be a lot more forest in the near-south region and this is clearly visible on Google maps.

Can you explain? On the face of it, it seems obvious that building vertically simply creates more living space. If you have a 10,000 sqft block, building a 50 story tower will clearly provide more space than using it all for single-family homes, especially since people who live in apartments are generally used to less space than people who live in houses -- or even shacks.

Two comments:
- Why are high taxes in the "good" column.
- You need to adjust several of these for COL. It doesn't matter if you make more money living in a location if you're also forced to spend it all.

There are no skyscrapers in Bnei Brak either, they aren't as efficient as people think.

Reply to comment by [deleted] in USA Credit Cards: Card Balances v. Interest Rate [OC] by rosetechnology
As long as you don’t spend proportionally to your credit limit increase you’re fine. Most banks have a credit limit increase program such that a good percentage of customers will start spending more on their card collecting the measly interchange and some will actually miss payments and go into debt - even more profitable.

Electing the Speaker of the House is like electing a Prime Minister. The Speaker is the second most powerful political position in the US government and third in line for the Presidency after the Vice President. The House has the "power of the purse" meaning it controls the money. The House acts like shareholders, the Senate like a board of directors and the President like a CEO.

Brooklyn is one of the largest cities in America - it’s definitely a large city on its own, at least by US standards.

I was checking the nominal GDP per capita figures for various countries the other day, and wow, Uruguay is shining like a bright star in all South America. I don't know who or what brought this change but the success is undeniable. Kudos Uruguay.

Google Is Your Friend. Central Park is 6% of Manhattan -- not really enough to make a notable difference in density. And yes, Kathmandu has a very large palace and grounds smack dab in the center.
