That's the most generic song I've ever heard

Dang you’re so edgy and cool that you don’t know popular songs. I bet you’re fun at parties too

It's largely a solved problem: you sort of just bury it very deep in a geologically stable area.
Yes, there is some risk of toxic material affecting something, but it's not nearly as severe as the guarantee of toxic material getting released with fossil fuels.

This isn’t how they determine song of the year. Song of the year is the award for excellence in songwriting, not how popular a song was.

In what way was your assessment of this situation objective? You didn't offer a single piece of objective evidence that Google (or alphabet) doesn't care about the wellbeing of our society or its workers.
Objectively speaking they employ 10,000s of workers and compensate them extremely well relative to the average worker. They generate billions of dollars for investors, offer products that nearly the entire world uses and benefits from, have an incredible "green" record, and have donated billions to charity over the last 20 years.
On top of this, as others have pointed out in this thread, they hired a lot of people over the last two years and this workforce reduction, or whatever corporate buzzword they use, is taking them back to historic levels of employment.
Of course these companies are "greedy", they only exist if they make money. But relatively speaking, Google and pretty much all other fortune 50 companies, are probably the most generous to their employees and society.

That's what I meant... but I wrote it different, which sounded a tad bit racist in retrospect.

Im sorry but please don’t make this about racism. It’s clearly being downvoted because it’s a poor graphic that doesn’t properly demonstrate the true magnitude of the 3700 lives lost

Well, it kind of appears to be telling us some thing about wages between men vs women, over a bunch if different tiers of wage categories. But i cant figure out the “what” here.

Why blame Poles but not muslims? They had to do something to piss off Poles.

Plus, I watched a lot of terrible films so I could review them and entertain others, (and earn a living)... and I feel like that's at least somewhat of a noble pursuit.

Ok, that's fair. Those things should not prevent a song from winning but the artist should not be in the running for artist of the year.
And also, again, the "best" song is so subjective. Maybe a song that a singer wrote themselves, based on their own life experiences, that they have a real emotional connection with, is "better" to me than one that a song writer wrote and the actual performer saw for the first time 5 minutes before it was time to lay it down on the record.

The realization that I'm old and out of touch.
I have no idea what any of these songs are.
I know the artists names cause I don't liv e under a rock, but I can say I've actively never heard any of these.
It could be my taste in music, but I dunno.

I don't think it's telling us much more than that. It's just data regurgitated into a graph. You'd have to aggregate it further to make talking points. I take that further inference isn't the intent since it is so disperse.

The lyrics being written by the singer, the singer playing an instrument and never lip suncing doesn’t make a song or album any better or worse though

That’s not the info shown on this chart. And worth noting that that would be roughly the effective tax rate of someone earning 200k. That’s not a poor person by any stretch, but definitely nowhere near 19 billion.

same. people are way too concerned with “wasting time” not realizing that the experience of life is not a waste, no matter the endeavor. its just a part of life. i’m at over 1500 movies and going. best of luck and thanks for sharing!

Because the grammys are dumb. "Best record" and all that is highly subjective and there are many artists out there making music who are far more talented than most of these people. Artists who, for starters, write their own music...play instruments...don't lip sync.
Have the award show and recognize whoever but let's call it what it is. "Best selling album of the year.""Most streamed song of the year."
At least those things aren't so subjective.
