The four Super Bowls shown were at LA club #1, #2, #2, #3. I think to make conclusions about specific betting days it would be better to have aggregate data about money spent at the club. A lot of my earnings were from regulars although I did have two big spends from one-time-only customers who might have been gambling winners. Thanks for reading!

Personal ICEs will be phased out as batteries get cheaper/potent and auto manufacturers will focus on EVs as their main product. This is great as Americans won't be beholden to gas prices anymore and won't face spikes like we saw last year.

Although (unfortunately) there will still be plenty of use for oil and gas.

Venezuela's entire economy was oil. The oil was being extracted by foreign companies who got a large portion of the profits in exchange for extracting the oil. In 2003 the new government decided it wanted all the profit, fired all 19000 employees in the oil companies and replaced them with Venezuelans (ones loyal to the new government). It turns out extracting oil is actually very difficult and the lack of expertise killed the industry.

That's the abridged version, there's more to the story but the moral is, don't mess with success, diversify your portfolio, never fire all the smart people.

Yeah, don't get me wrong I believe we need to encourage more people to enter the trades and general blue collar work. But we also shouldn't pretend is just as cut and dry as just earnings. My best friend from high school didn't go to college and worked for FedEx right off the bat. He paid his dues and ended up making really good money for a while, but we're both in early '40s and he's got a myriad of health problems and it's getting harder and harder for him to want to work while my work is steadily getting easier in life. I feel like the hardest I ever worked was in my late twenties to mid-thirties, both workload wise and the mental stress of proving myself... Since then it's been smooth sailing, I would be glad to continue doing what I'm doing for about as long as possible.

My friend is not a great example oh how to do things because he's lived beyond his means and perhaps miscalculated or just chose to ignore the reality that is kind of work would get tougher as he got older. However, I've got an uncle who retired with the post office early, and lived very modestly, invested his money, etc. He has a hell of a good retirement for a guy who never got a formal education. I honestly don't see my friends retirement after FedEx to be that great based on things he talks about.

Thanks, just read it. And the previous post. On 1st glance, I'm unconvinced it is based on sports betting. Although, perhaps anticipation of supreme court striking down pro & amateur sports protection act in May '18 led to increasing sports gambling earlier that year. What was the color designation of the club you were working? Considering OTB is legal, I would be curious what your earning look like on the day of major races - local and national

Same thing happened in North Dakota 15-20 years ago. It's a great deal for the workers who show up, but a better deal for anyone who can sell them trucks or rent them apartments. It's a raw deal for anyone growing up there because you either have to work in the oil patch, find a way to cater to the travellers, or go broke.
