Fair enough, there are exceptions - I don't think the short comment was meant to imply "always and 100%.“ It's not every Grammy. An accomplished musician like Pat Metheny has been nominated 38 times. He's also won 10 Grammys in the jazz categories - these are rarely televised though! So, probably we could distinguish between the top, televised awards, and those lesser seen or known. It was brilliant to see Bonnie Raitt recently win for song of the year - which upset a lot of people.

This presents on-line survey data of parents about the sweet foods their children consume, n = 1,135, with a minimum of n = 20 per state. Ignoring the obvious sampling issues, it'd be interesting to see confidence intervals of the mean for each state. Also, I'm not sure why the data is presented twice: per day, and per week, which is simply 7 times the daily figure.

- Contributors were asked whether or not they planned to drink any alcoholic beverages during the Super Bowl.
- Those who did have plans to drink were asked what they would be drinking, and were able to select multiple beverages.
- Most of those planning to drink indicated they would have beer.
- Bud light was the most popular choice among beer drinkers.
These data were collected over Feb 10-12 from a total of 1,639 respondents in the U.S. Premise used stratified sampling of its opt-in panel members, along with post-stratification weighting on age, gender, region, and education to construct a representative sample.

It doesn’t look good for India. Light pink circle shows how much plastic is produced by the country. Dark pink circle shows how much mismanaged plastic waste is released into the ocean.
numnumjp t1_j8tpgod wrote
Your numbers are off. China is by far the largest source of mismanaged plastic waste. Exporting the trash to another country that mismanages the trash still counts as mismanagement by the host country that exports.

Probably can't afford a regular army, so trains citizens, and arms them for a possible future war.
It is totally my guess, though.

Something that's dawning upon me is that I think a lot of people believe a busy graph means the results are more profound.

They asked a tiny sample of parents how much sugary snacks their kids eat. Could be titled states where parents fib about what their kids eat.
lollersauce914 t1_j8tkxyt wrote
This seems very unnecessarily busy. There's absolutely no reason for the ranking to be a giant doughnut graphic scaled to the size of the thing that's already shown by the choropleth map underneath.
The rankings, which probably aren't needed at all, could just be added in the label for the state (e.g., 22.862 (1) for PA) or just put in a separate table.

Brian Wilson alone should have a shelf full of them, much less The Beatles, XTC, Zappa, etc. It’s not merit. If it was, no one would have complained about “Two Against Nature”.

Love this visualization. However for a few of the data points, including the Philippines, seems like they are emitting more waste than they produce. Is that because other countries are exporting trash for them to then negligently dispose of?

It seems they only said not to after it was already sent and discovered the sending company had lied about the contents. It's still a problem with the local government, though. They take in far too much than they can handle, and it seems that most of the so-called "recyclables" are simply dumped. At any time, though, they can end or drastically reduce trash imports officially. They have the autonomy to do so.

There's no responsible answer to either question. Thus, they are BOTH to blame. Note that "both" is not saying the Philippines have no blame...

Two thoughts:
A breakdown of "Liquor" would be nice. I guess that that's like, Scotch, Gin, Sambucca, etc.
I read that as "Hand Sanitizer" and thought, wow, there's brand preference?
