Maybe but kinda hard to imagine a coordinated effort among hundreds of critics and directors in an anonymous poll to like... 'make a point'... sounds conspiratorial lol. Imo-- think there are simpler explanations. Like critics (and directors who separately ranked it #4) actually just going back to watch it/ revisit it and appreciating it more than before.
In 2012 only 2 movies directed by women were even considered vs 11 in 2022. You can argue thats because only 2 deserved to be there, but I would guesssss (with absolutely no evidence for this claim) most film people these days would agree that those older polls seriously under-rated and under-watched some pretty major women filmmakers -- let alone the lesser known ones. I'm no expert but even I know Varda, Campion, and Sofia Coppolla are top tier.

The shift away from FTEs to contractors is a total drag. I remember, as a federal contractor, writing a plan for the department head that essentially said, "you need 3 FTE to do this and are contracting for 6." I then quit because I couldn't stand the BS that being a contractor entails.

It would be interesting to see a visualization of where people are from and where they were located at Census. It won't show brain drains if at the state level, but could add some nuance. My guess is that it would just make smaller, conservative states look bad though

Also, an important distinction in this is that those 11 extra months of growth isn't just physical size. It's 11 extra months of using their body and mind in everyday life, gaining coordination, balance, depth perception and all the other physical and mental components that go into being a good athlete.
Player A has had over 10% more time alive for their brain to develop than player B by the time they start playing their sport.

Is birth year more culturally significant in schools there? Here it's not really even a consideration. Ofc the school starting cutoff is usually based on age at the start of the school year in august iirc, not on calendar year, so I had a mix of classmates born in 94 and 95 for instance. Being born in summer made me one of the youngest, and being born in december would place someone in the older half. We only really associated with grade level, and with graduation year (both high school and college). And assuming your sports are through the school system (most are, but not all, and those that aren't are usually more chill) I don't think actual age affects eligibility at all until it's like state and national championship level U16, U18, U23, etc categories.

Hardly pointless. Yes, you are right there could be a few distortions but fundamentally this gives an accurate picture and is the regular way everyone worldwide looks at migration between countries.

Mark Twain (then plain Samuel Clemens) fought for the Confederacy for two weeks before quitting and heading to Nevada along with his older brother who was appointed to a position in the territorial government there. He wrote a (mostly fictional) account of his wartime experience in a sketch entitle "The Private History of a Campaign That Failed."
