It’s the knock on effect from R16.

It predicts that Poland are 10% more likely to beat France than Senegal to beat England. Obviously if France are eliminated by Poland, they can’t reach the final, so France’s predictions are carrying that 10% disadvantage through to the other rounds. It’s not predicting that England will beat France, just that France are more likely to slip up in the R16.

A couple of corrections: Tex-Mex should really be along with Middle-American; Brazilian is its own thing, and I would place Bar-B-Que under American every day. Also, Chinese is a collection of widely different cuisines, and all are different from Japanese or Korean. Other than that - fascinating data and nice visualization.

Almost all the “colored” regiments as they were referred to back then were mustered from Northern states such as Massachusetts. Most of the Union was not for allowing African Americans to fight. Lincoln and Grant personally supporting the effort and the start of their own views on African Americans evolving forward.

I don't really think it'd be correct to say it's 100% a question of maturity and nothing else. Things like genes, nutrition and health are examples of factors that could be playing a part. Loads of things contribute to a child even getting the chance to start playing a sport, which is a requirement for them to be good at it. To reduce all that down to differences in "maturity" is a bit simplistic in my mind.
