Wait you guys don't have pizza pizza in America?
I just figured it was one of those American chains that's so massive it just exists under the strength of its own momentum despite universal agreement that its garbage. Now I have no idea how they still exist.

Interesting premise, confusing execution. The colours are cute though.

Many professors at Stanford make their big money by being consultants or starting a side research lab, taking paid research gigs. And book deals.
Source: I was a Stanford grad student.

I submitted a datapoint :) The publicly-funded institutions I've worked for are required to publish salary information yearly, date of PhD was not in the data but years at the university and title were.

and the red dots are graduate students, which is really misleading because they are not PHDs. This data is not beautiful.

Yes, but they failed to qualify in several runs. The most recent being 2002 and 2018.

Because these countries were separated without having a direct successor. The federal republic of Germany is still the federal republic of Germany, it’s just that the eastern part joined us again ~30 years ago.

How is it missing part of the journey if they literally are the beginning of the journey?? 😭😭 Ay. I'm going to bed. This is too much.
When you look at the importance of coffee in Yemeni vs Ethiopian culture, it's also just anecdotally obvious where it originated & has been drunken long before the Wikipedia article can document vs who received it and traded it. Go to an Ethiopian person's house and you'll be there for two hours whole someone brews you coffee from the green bean in a traditional clay pot. It's a whole thing.

Can you separate the taxpayer funded revenue? The COGS looks like a classic money laundering.

It didn't...even the Wikipedia page linked describes the fact that local ethnic groups in Ethiopia knew it was stimulant and how Somali traders brought it to Yemen...you have to have a plant (&know it's value and use) to bring it elsewhere & trade.
magnesiumb t1_j0xxmgy wrote
Why leave out the fact they came from Ethiopia? Yemen was just the first to trade it internationally (although even here, was it Yemeni traders or traders in Yemen?), but they got the coffee from Ethiopia...
This isn't even a case of the data being terrible, it's just misleading and not representative of what the source outlined. You should also include years. Visualization itself is nice though.

Wow! That’s so impressive, congrats! I’m much less consistent but I’m on an almost 300 day streak of filling my rings. I found it tough to maintain my activity level once I started a full time job working from home (around January 2022, where there are lots of 0’s lol). What kinds of workouts do you do? Any chance you live in Canada?

I have going 1300+ consecutive days with greater than 30 minutes of exercise using my Apple Watch. I think my average is about 50-55/day. You're awesome!

Check out the website! You can visualize different subgroups of data interactively. I'm still building up the dataset
