Reply to ELI5: Why do we board up the windows of abandoned or currently renovating buildings instead of leaving the glass? by bandreasr
Doing so prevents injury risk if they break during other renovations on site. It also mitigates against vandalism, as well as break-ins. And, as you noted, all windows would likely be replaced anyhow.

Producer prices and transport prices in the west are also higher. It's harder to sell cheaply. Worker wages, more regulation, etc.
It is not possible to sell cheap stuff in the west at a profit, just try, you will fail, there is competition.
We are not accepting it, nobody can afford it anymore, demand is being destroyed and company earnings are falling. Prices will eventually go down, but they were not super high because of a scam or gouging or price fixing, the market price just rose because of high demand and high production cost, worker shortage, energy prices, etc, it had nothing to do with choice or preference or culture

Reply to eli5 Christian vs Catholic? by shad0w_qween
Catholic is the OG Christian (or OC as it were). Every other branch of Christianity came from the Catholic tree trunk.

There are certain exceptions. Darts, for example. Canadian and American players can save money buying from European sites, even after you factor in shipping costs and currency conversion. And this includes buying American made darts.

Reply to ELI5 why do people refer to it as the pacific northwest rather than simply the northwest? by Longshot_Louie
It's a more specific region. Northwest includes Idaho and at least part of Montana. Pacific Northwest describes the coastal areas of the NW.

You're welcome to fly to East Asia/South Asia/Africa and buy their comparatively cheap groceries every time you need to restock the fridge. I'm sure this will be a net-positive for your budget.

There aren't other cities now, but that hasn't always been the case. In the past, there were also the cities of Georgetown, DC (since absorbed into Washington, DC) and Alexandria, DC (now Alexandria, VA).

Where have you been? All food companies use heated honey unless stated otherwise. Bacterial contamination.

To be even more picky, many Protestants also believe in the 'one holy catholic and apostolic church' and so authentically see themselves as 'catholic'. Catholic is a description basically meaning all-embracing. Roman Catholicism is a branch of Christianity against which historically many 'protested' during the Reformation. To add to the mix, there are plenty of people who would describe themselves as a Catholic (or protestant, though perhaps to a lesser extent - cf Northern Ireland), who are so culturally rather than by religious conviction.

Disposable is fine, but it should be the old school type. Have been shaving with a safety razor for a while now and it's superior in every way to a modern one, and a pack of 50 blades is like $10.

Umm. Are you saying that sharing studies/literature is pointless? Because there might be others that disprove it? That's kind of a cop out...
The claim made by the other person is very clear and concise and something that can be tested easily. If the effect exists, should be seen in studies. If it doesn't, that can also be seen in studies.
Also if you think one can get this answer clearly from any doctor, then there must be literature around this available widely. After all, the doctor also learns from somewhere.
So I did some search and almost all articles from big universities are saying acid in lemon does help cut the mucus. Doctors also refer to these studies, right? So, maybe you need to comeback with some legitimate sources (including doctors) that say otherwise.

Am I buying the wrong vinegar? Apple cider vinegar feels to me like the most acidic one. I can barely smell it without my eyes watering

The cost of goods isn't just the cost of the item. It's the cost of the real estate where the store is (higher in richer areas), the labor to supply that store (higher in richer areas), the cost of shipping (higher in richer areas), etc.
