While many other countries typically have limits on tap to pay, the US has no such limit.
I've tapped for thousands of dollars before, with no fuss.

And The Rings of Power went all the way to 2.39:1. Is that a first for a TV show?

Reply to comment by Kaz3girl4 in ELI5 Why do men pee in solid streams and women more or less gush out their pee? by Kaz3girl4
The space between the inner lips from clitoris to vaginal opening is called the Vestibule. In a full squat, knees shoulder or more apart, the vestibule should open and you should get a direct stream from the urethra. On the toilet, use the saddle position (facing the wall/tank) to get the knees well apart if there's room. If you can't saddle, keep the knees apart and lean forward as best you can.
Once you're familiar with how this works, you can put your finger tips between the inner and outer lips as shown:
Vulva Drawing Permission granted for non-profit duplication and display.
Practice in the shower and eventually you can do this standing (mostly) with your knees out and hips rolled under. Starting with a strong stream helps. Good luck!

Movies now are generally 2.39:1 or 1.85:1 whereas the 16:9 used for TVs is 1.78:1. So TVs are actually very close to one of the common cinema aspect ratios; the movies are only 4% wider.

While you can learn it as a hobby, I did go to college for it and worked more or less for 90 hours a week for 2 years straight.

I think OP is in the US, we don’t really have chip and PIN here per se, transactions are authorized real-time with the bank. We only need a pin if it’s a debit transaction, but most transactions are handled through the Visa or Mastercard network, even if a direct withdrawal from a checking account.

We don't know there's no 4th spatial dimension, we just know that either we can't access it or it's rolled up really tightly.

have you ever seen a tax form? you dont have to LIST precisely what the source of each dollar is. you can just write consulting and there you go...

... however if you get AUDITED ...... then you often DO have to declare the sources ....

Interesting, I have never experienced that. Here in the UK a debit card is associated with a single account, and savings accounts don’t have cards (typically).

The amount of data being transmitted is tiny so the communication speed is not an issue. Contactless wins because you just have to position the card reasonably close to the reader. For contactless you have to align the card in a slot and insert which takes longer.

No they are actually are banned from doing this based only on your declaration. Outright ( see note below)

HOWEVER as you can imagine the amount of big time crooks reporting their illegal income is ummm infinitesimally small, so most of the time this does help catch crooks.

NOTE: If you get audited, you do have to account for the source of all your income . If at that time the IRS sees evidence of a financial crime ( ie MONEY LAUNDERING) which... THEY WILL if you are a big time criminal operator... then they can thro you in jail for that as well.

It's not so much an impenetrable barrier but it just gets way too hot down that far. The rock starts acting more like a liquid at higher temperatures and fills in the hole. The drill breaks down faster too.

Fatalism is a belief in fate. It has nothing to do with death or anything grim like that, simply that things are fated to happen.
Nihilism is a belief in nothing (from Latin "nihil"). That is to say, it is the belief that there is no inherent meaning or purpose to anything.

Reply to comment by TietVinh in ELI5 what statically determinate and indeterminate structures are and why such classification exists. by TietVinh
People actually build both, but you don't "improve" it from there...you have to decide whether you're building determinate or indeterminate during the design phase. It's going to be part of the design requirements and it's going to influence everything else you do. If you don't know which kind you want before you start, and why, you don't want that person designing structures.

Being a trading port, Guangzhou was home to Portuguese traders who heard local pronunciations as Cantão, which led to the older English name Canton, which lives on in our name for the Cantonese language/dialect.

In the US, you may get credit or debit choices. Not always though, some just default to taking it as credit, without a PIN required.
