If you've had 14 therapists, surely you have some idea of what you want from a therapist?
Personally, I think therapy is something that most people simply won't get much out of. I think that's a reasonable position to take. But if that's how you feel, then why spend money on therapists?

It's mostly a means of allowing for criminal investigations into large organized criminal groups. AS unless they are exceptionally careful their lifestyles can be radically out of sync with their purported incomes. IRS investigations often allow federal charges for these groups which in turn can be used to help other investigations. The regs do say that they can't report you for your criminal income but most people wouldn't believe that so it's doubtful many do.

Reply to ELI5: why does mobile data either get really bad or automatically disconnect when making a call. Then gets restored once the call ends. by ShadoWalker123
If your phone is not compatible with calls over 4G (does not support your carrier's configuration of VoLTE) or 5G (does not support VoNR) it will switch to 3G or 2G to make a call. Data may not be available or be very limited because not many frequencies are allocated for 3G and 2G these days.

Your call and the mobile data go over the same bandwidth. When you are making a voice call, a lot of bandwidth is needed for the call alone, leaving little for the data connection, which can indeed lead to interruptions in the data you are getting.

Reply to comment by WinBarr86 in ELI5- what is the difference between a liquid and a fluid? by stinkybuttttt
No, an amorphous solid is not a liquid.
A liquid is: “a nearly incompressible fluid that conforms to the shape of its container but retains a (nearly) constant volume independent of pressure” (from Wikipedia).
An amorphous solid does not flow to conform to the shape of it’s container. Thus, and amorphous solid is not a liquid.
Further, many solids are non crystalline. Wood for example. Also charcoal. Also paper.
Are you seriously planning to argue that paper is a liquid?

New Zealand was named by Dutch explorers who “found” the country - and named it after the Zeeland region in the Netherlands. It was “Nova Zeelandia”. Māori named their country Aotearoa meaning “land of the long white cloud”. It’s often called “Aotearoa New Zealand” as one now.

Reply to comment by saywherefore in ELI5: Why are contactless payment methods faster than inserting the chip? by jimmysofat6864
Yeah that's not true in my experience, contactless does confirm and the payment immediately reflects in your credit/debit balance. Sometimes banking app in phone even gets the notification before the payment terminal passes the payment.

Reply to comment by alekseyweyman in ELI5 what causes those random spots of turbulence on airplanes? by alekseyweyman
Just like the sea, the waves are not static. We can anticipate where turbulence is likely to happen knowing air currents as we do. Plus being in the path of previous aircraft can also cause turbulence and this is again something we can anticipate, just not know exactly when these pockets of disturbed air are while flying through those zones.

In Canada, it's $250. But it is usually set by banks and credit unions so it can vary from country to country. It's a hard-limit.

You’re basically paying someone to say exactly what you told them, right back to you.
This is all in hopes so that you, who is ignorant/stupid/crazy, will one day actually listen to yourself

But it's the same card, confirmed by OP. I'd understand if it's say credit card EMV vs Apple Pay. But if it's same card, it should be undergoing the same process in talking you the bank. The only difference would then be isolated to the actual tech (or how the app coded the communication with the tech). So the argument made by top answer regarding validity of the card shouldn't be a factor.

Yeah that makes sense- are these currents continuous in the sense that if we fly over that section again it would happen also? Or are the wind pockets outliers from differential temperatures / winds?

>Maybe you don’t need therapy..? I am not sure how old you are, but a lot of younger people these days all seem to think they are traumatized, have mental issues, neurodivergent etc. while it’s mostly just things they read about on the internet. They try to fit in because it probably sounds interesting to them and everyone seems to rave on about it. Kinda like the trends and subcultures we had back in the day.

I'm seeing a lot of judgementalism going on in this thread from people who don't know you and don't know your circumstances.
Everyone has had some trauma in their life; a few lucky ones have had only minor incidents that barely count, and too many unlucky ones have had serious trauma. Most people fit in between.
Trauma affects your brain, physically — yes, genuinely, e.g. the amygdala might be enlarged. It also affects how you make decisions in life, and your internal thoughts and beliefs about yourself.
Unresolved trauma, or keeping unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviour as a result of your upbringing, leads to unhappiness and, in bad cases, to dysfunctional behaviour that causes distress to both yourself and to others.
The purpose of therapy is to undo the damage (although you can't undo physical changes to your brain, your brain is "plastic" and you can overcome it) to allow you to lead a better life — happier, more fulfilled, and a part of society.
If you've seen 14 therapists and none of them has helped, either you are seeing the wrong type of therapists (there are different types who use different methods), or you have a deep internal fear of changing your thoughts and behaviour. Or maybe both.
I wish you the best of luck in finding someone suitable for you.

Reply to ELI5 - When losing weight, why is it common to hear "burn more than you consume" in reference to calorie intake. if you consume" 1000 calories, how do you burn 1500? by Freedom-No-781
You can burn more than you consume either by burning more, or by consuming less.
Burning more requires doing more physical activities, such as working out.
Consuming less means eating less food or food with less calories.
