We don't use up ALL the oxygen in a breath of air.
There's certainly LESS oxygen available, but some is better than none.
MurderTron_9000 t1_je3xydr wrote
It's not all CO2. Each breath we take has enough oxygen in it for a little over 2 people on average, and we don't absorb all of it.
As for why it's not recommended to give breaths anymore and simply do compressions, it's because generally the blood has enough oxygen still in it to circulate with compressions and keep the brain from dying for a good few minutes. You just need to keep it pumping.

You know how you have a brain that helps you think and feel things? Well, different animals also have brains, but they are not the same as yours. Some animals have very tiny brains that only help them do easy things, like eating or sleeping. These animals may not think or feel much at all, or only a little bit. Other animals have bigger brains that help them do more things, like playing or talking. These animals may think and feel more than the tiny ones, but not as much as you. You have the biggest and best brain of all the animals, because it helps you do many wonderful things that no other animal can do, like reading stories, drawing pictures, singing songs, or counting numbers. You also have something very special that no other animal has: you can think about yourself and who you are. You can ask questions like “What is my name?” or “What is my favorite color?” or “How do I feel today?” This is called being self-aware or sentient. It means that you have a very special kind of thinking and feeling that makes you different from all the other animals.

Why do you say they're probably not talking to the front desk all the time?
If they're not then yeah it'd be a massive mystery, so likelihood is, they are.
Turns out, they are. They're either hard-wired, or they're just powered and communicate with the base station wirelessly.

What's to stop a really major act (e.g. Taylor Swift) from performing in venues that are not controlled by Ticketmaster, or just setting up a parallel company? by havereddit
My favorite band usually has cheap tickets with minimal if any extra fees on their website you just have to show an Id on location to prevent scalping. Ticketmaster has control of the remaining seats for everything else. I won’t say the name in case Ticketmaster puts their foot down but ticketmaster will bend if a larger band insists.

Usually richer people get trained on a language through school so they learn to pronounce stuff "correctly". Thus poorer people pronounce it incorrectly and eventually they both have accents.
If you send settlers somewhere without anyone teaching them the "proper" language eventually their language will evolve differently. They'll shorten words. Emphasize certain letters and so on.

Pretty much any creature with a brain is likely sentient to some degree. Also many animals are likely just as sentient as us, they're just not as advanced because they lack the communication abilities we have that allowed us to advance.

Taylor Swift can actually do this. But instead of one of the biggest acts in music playing before thousands of people every night, she would be playing too a few hundred maybe in bars and smaller venues.
Ticketmaster live Nation basically controls 95% plus of the big venues in America. If she wants to perform in America and earn the amount of ticket sales that she deserves then she has to go through this monopoly.

Both Unreal and Unity (another popular game engine) are free to hobbyists and tinkerers, meaning anyone can play around with them.

Chiming in to add elephants, African gray parrots, apes, orcas, and dogs (if using the sniff test rather than mirror test)

And Pearl Jam was arguably as big as Taylor Swift at the time, or close to it. They had a ton of clout, they basically ran their career aground trying to fight Ticketmaster, and they lost.
Although I do wonder if they had had more success if other big bands of the era had stood by them and also boycotted.

The US government is already owned by businesses like Ticketmaster. There’s no way Ticketmaster will even be investigated, let alone laws change to limit their actions.

It's even been theorized that certain animals, like whales, may have a higher aptitude for certain attributes we consider to be human, like emotion and empathy. This is because although human brains are large and dense, certain regions of our brain aren't as developed or active as whats has been observed in some animals.

Because when you scan the card, the reader “asks” a server for verification. It’s usually quick because it’s just the door ID and card ID, and the response either “yes” or “not yes”. (A non answer is the same as a no, that’s why sometimes you have to do it twice.)

Adding on, is it possible that I build my own venue, say as big as the Staples Center, and letting people host events for free (of course with stipulations like damage insurance and other obvious stuff)., But the work of organizing the event and security/ticket sales being on the person holding it?

They are communicating all the time and when changes happen. When the card is canceled at the front desk, the "cancel" notice is set from the server out to all doors. When an unknown card is swiped in a door, the door requests the key status from the server.

They, and the front desk, talk to a central server. The lock says, "hey server, I'm lock XXXX and I've just been tagged with card YYYY. The server looks in its database, and if the combination is allowed, it tells the lock to unlock. The front desk makes changes to the database as needed.

This was all working just as it is now even before the Live Nation merger. The merger didn't help the situation, but its not like it was any different before, because it wasn't.

We aren't, there are other species with self awareness, bottlenose dolphins are a good example.
Crows and ravens are another.

I saw the Stones at a university football stadium. Tickets by Ticketmaster. I saw McCartney at a different university football stadium. Tickets by Ticketmaster. I saw Roger Waters at a college basketball arena. Tickets by Ticketmaster.

Don't you guys have a competition commission to "anti trust" these mergers?
