It isn't just airports. Any place that is designed for crowds and gets lots of foot traffic has such architecture. Think hotel lobbies, atriums, office building lobbies, big box retail stores, convention centers. It helps with air flow and makes the space feel more roomy.

I did not mean to say anything toward you particulary, and I apologize if I offended you in any way. By "you" I did not mean personally you, but just an abstract person. I'm just trying to have a discussion, I don't have anything against you!
And again, I'm sorry for offending you and please don't think I'm trying to attack you, I don't have banything against you

I had a coworker that would drink a 12 pack of coke a day before going home.

Reply to ELI5 how can a hacker crack a password but avoid the "login attempt lockout" timers? by otherother_Barry
It depends. Usually by knowing the password befor they type it in. Most hackers dont try to bruteforce you password, they buy it from another hack of another side, get it from yourself through fishing attacks or use social engeneering to reset your password.

But since we can make them tall, we do. This isn't just airports. Look at Union station. Built in the 20s yet feels like a giant hall with a very tall roof. This isn't some new age architecture fad. Many will argue it's twice as important in airports to make passengers feel at ease since they're about to be crammed in a narrow metal tube for hours. Better to get a look at the blue sky and planes landing/taking off.

You don't crack passwords sitting in front of the login prompt. You use some exploit that lets you get into the backend of the system without the password then copy the whole ass database to your own computer. Or you do some social engineering and ask somebody who has a password that lets you get at the database to tell you. From there you can poke at the hashed (hopefully lmao) passwords at your leisure.

I'm not making an argument. This sub is r/explainlikeimfive so I was just trying to explain to you what is the most common explanation I've heard in the simplest way possible. I'm not advocating for or defending any practices.
I myself have no kids, have never had unprotected sex, and consider myself very in control of my emotions, so I don't even need to try to get out of any kind of blame. Anyway, I hope my explanation helped in some way.

I used to build airports, there are two main reasons—humans generate 500 BTU each of heat. There are smaller airports with plenums and oversized HVAC systems but you’d have to localize the HVAC systems for each gate instead of just using chilled water systems before flights.
Taller ceilings help dissipate the heat around the entire building. Also, like someone else mentioned, airports are basically symbolic welcome mats to tourists & businesspeople alike so a great deal of expensive architecture goes into them. Some of the most expensive firms serve as the architects of record on them.

Fruit flies lay eggs in the skins of fruit, including bananas. When the bananas are ripe, that’s the signal for the larvae to eat their fill and molt into flies. Bananas release ethylene gas when they’re ripe, which signals the flies to hatch and eat, as well as signaling other fruit within range to complete the ripening process.
Fruit flies have a very short life cycle, so if you don’t provide anything else for them to lay eggs in, they die off when the original fruit is gone.

Most times the eggs of the fruit flys are on / in the fruit. Leave it too long and the eggs will hatch and you will get flys. These are harmless and fine to eat, infact you have probably eaten hundreds of fruit fly eggs in your life.

I did not set my argument clear, yes, humans are animals. What I wanted to say by that though, is that we can easily control our instincts, we're a lot smarter than all the other animals. And people can easily fight horniness, the arguments "my instincts are hard to control" is a very lazy argument. The same argument can be used when you're in a heat of anger, which is an instinct too, but when people are angry they can easily control themselves and avoid the conflict/even a potential fight. The argument "I couldn't control my instincts" is a very lazy argument and it just shows that you're trying to get the blame out of yourself. Same with horniness

>Brains perfectly work rationally while horny
Completely untrue, rational thinking can be impacted by all sorts of things. You don't have to be intoxicated to have a lapse in judgment, being hungry alone is enough to make the smartest brains slow down.
As for your original question, 1) folks don't really think rationally when your brain expects pleasure, you just want it and don't have time or resources to ponder the ramifications like you would any other time, 2) people like sex better without a piece of latex getting in the way, so some deliberately choose to take the risk.
