All major powers are located laterally on the planet from one another, thus north/south alliances do not reflect most conflicts between nations

Because we live in a world that is effectively wide, and not tall. Most of the human population lives in the Northern Hemisphere, and Most of the human capital exists in the Northern Hemisphere. It will be very unlikely that a band of northern countries would say, start to posture on Argentina and Australia.
That being said, there were some Pan American actions that the US took in South America that may be considered to be North vs South geopolitics.

Because generally speaking the Southern hemisphere is fairly low-output compared to the Northern Hemisphere.
This is pretty reasonable considering about 90% of people live in the Northern hemisphere.

That's interesting. Did it lower the number of suicides overall, or just push ppl to a different method? If ppl are taking too much Tylenol on purpose, this solution seems... incomplete.

Ah, here in the U.S. you can buy a bottle of 500 of them in the grocery store.

I've definitely had friends with allergies mention they forgot their epipen. Kinda often, actually.

Plus, even ppl who feel narcans effects wouldn't want to abuse it or risk having to take it. It blocks opioid receptors, which sends addicts straight into withdrawal. It's literally only attractive when the other option is death.

i never tried to explain politics and marcroeconomy to 5 year old but here it goes:

Your mom gives you and your brother a dollar everyday
You both want spend it all on candy
Your brother found a place where he can buy candy cheaper than you and keeps it a secret (or you just can't go to same store). You complain to your mom and you get more money
Sometimes your mom gives more money to you, sometimes more money to your brother
You negotiate amout of money you will receve from your mom every month based on behaviour
Your brother started stockpile of candy so he can sell it to you for profit
In response you also started a stockpile of candy to sell to your brother
You both sell it only when it benefits seller most

You start give each other a credit in candy and extort services like washing dishes on mowing the lawn on each other when you can't pay back

Effectively price of candy fluctuates over time and depends on how much candy you want to eat given month

The per-dose price of the actual medicine is a few cents. The reason it costs so much is... well... there are a lot of people with vested interest in keeping things the way they are.
Some cheap single use syringes and a 3d printed spring loaded housing and a lot of money could be saved.

Futures. Futures are a forward contract (sign a contract today for a transaction at a future date) that are standardized for stock exchanges. You can watch the expected future price change based on current market movements. Futures reflect the expectations of traders, and thus the market as a whole.
Commodity companies will trade these contracts to hedge against price falls (basically locking in a price for the gas before they actually refine the oil).

You're talking about two completely different species (humans & American Bison). While protein is essential for us to build muscle, that isn't the case for all animals, not that there isn't protein in vegetation. Some of the largest land animals (dinosaurs) were plant eaters.

Your entire day (whole life, really) revolves around eating. Yeah, grass is low in calories, but when you are basically chewing from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep ,You can put down quite a few calories.
Also, there's only a couple of things that can eat them.
EpiHackr t1_iy0csux wrote
They eat a lot of calories. Herbivores have enzymes that let them digest "insoluble fiber" aka cellulose, aka plant fiber. They get a lot more nutrition from plants than humans. These enzymes break open the plant cells, giving them access to proteins and fats not available to us. Plus they never stop eating.

Cattle, Elephants, Hippos, Rhinos, Giraffes these are all large land mammals. They all get large the same way. They eat a lot of food.
WexfordHo t1_iy0cmj2 wrote
The largest terrestrial animals have always been herbivores, elephants, rhinos, mammoths, giant tree-munching dinosaurs, and so on. I’m not sure why you think that would be different for buffalo.
Being an herbivore means that you have ready access to vast quantities of food that most animals can’t extract nutrition from, but you can. Having access to large amounts of food allows for gigantism in animals, and being a large herbivore means that the predators capable of taking you down must either be large and powerful, or run in packs. Being large also means you can support large fat stores which help you to get through leaner times, and also withstand very cold weather.

This is the result of a big push for reform, saying "the benefits of making this one very safe and easy to use antidote widely available greatly outweight the harms, because people are dropping like flies from opioid overdose and many are afraid to seek care or can't afford it." Moreover, if the average person squirts Narcan up their nose, nothing really happens. If these average person gives themselves a shot of epinephrine, they're going to get quick and clear side effects, some of which are dangerous in the wrong person. You could still make a case for over the counter but it's not as clear.

In the UK, you actually can’t buy more than two packets of Paracetamol in one transaction. AFAIK this did actually lower the number of suicides-by-OD.

Very few allergies are severe enough to cause anaphylaxis which is caused by an antibody called immunoglobulin E overreacting to what it thinks are infections and causing excess histamine to be released which in turn can cause severe reactions possibly leading to anaphylaxis. Giving an EpiPen injection to someone not in anaphylaxis could kill them so they aren't just handed out like sweets.

Insulin can be dangerous but can be bought without prescription, same with tylenol 1's.

it's mostly data mining. basically, you just collect a bunch of data you think might be related to gas prices. then a computer tells you which factors are indeed able to predict them, and it gives you a formula based on those results, and you just use that.

I think its because animals are not corrupted by society and are therefore innocent. Just like how people feel fluffy when a baby looks at then and laughs, there’s something I cannot explain in detail about keeping an innocent creature safe from any sort of harm.

over thousands of years, we caused them to evolve qualities that make them lovable.
a hungry wolf pack would wander over toward a family of cavemen; the cavemen would feed and protect the wolves that were a bit friendlier, a bit more outgoing, a bit cuter, a bit more willing to protect them from other predators; meanwhile the uglier, asshole, aloof wolves would starve to death or get eaten and fail to reproduce.
repeat for a couple hundred thousand years or so, and the cute, friendly, lovable, loyal dogs are the ones being selected for, and a symbiotic relationship develops between man and dog.

It clears volatile memory without saving anything to non-volatile memory (hard drive). This can result in corrupted files and lost data
