$1299 for the M2 Pro version. I think (?) that's enough to build out a windows system with a top end i9 and midrange graphics.

What does that have to do with this MacBook? It isn't a touchscreen.

AppleTV doesn’t require a person to have an iPhone. So there’s that. iPhone not needed
Even so. AppleTV has not been a huge success. The % of non iPhone users who have AppleTV is probably in single digits or lower.
If they did assume all AppleTV users had iPhone, it’s a pretty good time to not give a fuck about such a small number of users.

This is also an issue with the apple tv app on other devices.

I just went through this. We got free apple tv by having T-Mobile. My TV has the apple tv app. We had apple laptops, but we spent all afternoon trying to find a way to set up an account and get it on the TV. The solution we eventually found was to charge up an old broken iphone.

Well that’s anti climatic. Guess I’ll just go find something else that’s wrong with them then.

That's too bad, macs with intel were so versatile. The only reason I buy old macs is because I can run mac, windows, and linux on them. They were good for IT guys who worked on all three systems.

It definitely says nothing about its popularity. What does say something about it is that no one I've ever met with a touchscreen laptop has ever said anything positive about the touchscreen.

Giving its $499 price tag for education and $599 regular retail, I don’t think they’re gonna be nice.
I own a base model M1 Mini and the first thing I wanted to try and do was upgrade my base storage. It was clear online that it just wasn’t possible. So, best thing I did was buy an external hard drive and plus my stuff goes to the cloud anyways. Only thing that gets in the way are applications

The URL included the serial number (with 8 million-million-million-million possibilities) plus a 4-digit code (65536 possibilities), but a lot of tech reporting these days is a giant game of telephone so many article did incorrectly say that there were only 65536 possibilities.

I had a touchscreen laptop. It's pretty much just a gimmick IMO.
