because they can with M chip. The ARM chips are significantly more efficient with memory over Intel chips. Its still stupid, but you would be surprised at how fictional 8 gigs is with a M1 vs 8 gigs with a intel chip.
To be fair with it though, even base model laptops from Dell and HP are still rolling with 8 gigs or even less.

I mean in the US I wouldn’t say it’s super widespread either. Most people just use whatever chrome OS comes on their TV.
Main reason to get one is the vastly better UI + responsiveness, proper HDR support, and sometimes better streaming quality.

Not likely... Maybe i5 or i7 but certainly not a i9, and certainly not in that form factor.

Anywhere I went (Totals to France, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Cyprus and where I live, Turkey) it was people using stuff like Mi Boxes, Bravia or Philips TVs with preloaded Google TV or TVs with Amazon Fire OS. Although it is obvious that the usage count is not 0, from what I have seen, it is not widespread, although I can guess that there obviously are groups like you lot who use it.

Really? We have one on each tv in our summer home in Italy and most of our friends use them since they’re better than the crappy OS that comes with the tv.

I’m just happy they keep upgrading so I can eventually get an m1 MacBook Pro for cheaper than the $900 I saw it on for a bit.
Kind of like the iPhone SE, they gotta make a MacBook Pro SE with the m1 chip and sell it forever.
But bring back MagSafe and USB c.

Don't you check for prigram compatibility before buying a Mac?

Then there's CPU cooler, case and power supply. Hmm, perhaps it's just slightly too much to fit in the $1299 budget.

Yeah they really did. I have the release M1 and I have no reason to upgrade. It's nice that Ryujinx runs natively now and they're becoming really potent switch emulators but other than that I don't do anything that warrants a more powerful macbook yet.
Obviously if you're in the market for a laptop already this is probably nice for you but there's no reason to upgrade from M1 to M2 for most people.

Available January 24. Would love to see some benchmark tests against the M1 Pro and Max.

My dad hates Apple products from PCs to their phones but he likes Apple music for their lossless and dolby atmos music. So he has an apple TV that he uses for music

A core i9-13900K is going to set you back $600 + tax. A midrange graphics card is about $300. RAM is probably another $75 or so. That leaves us about $300 for Windows, storage, and a tiny motherboard. You know that motherboard is going to eat up more than the remainder. It's an interesting exercise.

It's actually really good value for the performance you get out of these things. They are also built really well with nice display panels compared to most similarly specced PC laptop counterparts.

It's the fastest and the only one to support Wifi 6 which was crucial to me (wifi 5 couldn't stream all my high bitrate library from plex). I would go for newer Nvidia Shield if it existed.

Had one for years, never used it. Completely pointless feature to me.
