To be fair there were a couple of years where I dramatically decreased my usage. Now that I have it at work 5 days a week I know the end must not be far off.

Plus this internal 256gb ssd is wayyyyyyyyyyyy too small and last I checked it just wasn't worth paying for the 512. I basically live off of my external drives

AR is the hardest device engineering problem in human history. The complexity is multiple orders of magnitude higher than the invention of smartphones both from a hardware and software standpoint.

It's this complexity that leads to a very long road ahead for the industry, but if/when the tech gets to a certain point, I am confident it will also be the most transformational device in human history. High risk, high rewards.

Good decision!

Just yesterday I was watching a video about the Virtual Boy… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9FhIZkm4cw …and I was surprised to learn that Nintendo rushed it. Maybe it wouldn't have flopped (at least not so bad) if Nintendo gave it more time and resources.

But also, the iPhone has AR right now. I've played around with it, used it to view new Apple products, but it's not one of those features that I use a lot.

No, I am not. And no, the SSD on apple silicon is not on the SOC, although the SSD controller and RAM is.

Yes, I know that apple chips are more energy efficient than competitors. That does not change how memory works.

No, the SSD isn't much faster than what you will find in other machines either, just other similarly priced machines. It does about 1.4/1.3 GB/s while 130$ SSDs from other brands do 3 - 7GB/s.

It does. We just endured a decade of Intel gaslighting people about what is possible and what is not, while at the same time, hampering progress through monopolistic practices. I'm just glad Apple is willing to break from that and start innovating again because they're tired of Intel's bullshit.

Given both RAM/SSD are essentially on the same chip with transfer designed to utilise the SSD under the RAM, and a much faster SSD than what you’ll find in other machines, the broader architecture absolutely affects the performance here.

Obviously they’re confusing Arm with Apple Silicon and this is what they meant

I've tried a number of different devices, Firesticks, Chromecast and I've always had an issue with something being out of sync.
I run a Yamaha RX-V585 receiver to a Sony XE9300 TV and with the Apple TV box, all apps are in sync.
With the Firestick I seem to remember it was Amazon Prime UHD content that had a lipsync issue. With the Chromecast I'm sure it was Netflix - I'll admit it has been a while since I used either.
Frustrating watching and I'm getting the sound, just milliseconds, before the movement - very off-putting in dialogue heavy sequences.
