That is an unbelievably huge benefit though

Ok, but that's exactly the impression your first comment gives. If you're buying $200k machines at work, why are you saying that anyone who buys a $50k computer is dumb?
I highly doubt anyone who is buying $50k editing machines is actually surprised by the depreciation. MKBHD, the person this comes from, is a very competent tech reviewer who was absolutely aware. The point of this tweet was not to complain.

Honestly, I think this is a big test for Apple. Do they still have the stuff to invent new computing paradigms.

Sounds great and more reasonable, still a good price too.

Shit this is a whole other angle.
Paying for darkweb style reports on people that pop up in real time

"Petrus you need to stay overtime tonight! I will not put up with my employees fucking the dog on company time!"

That was also almost 30 years ago. Mainstream VR has been a thing for 5+ years

I don’t disagree, I regularly buy $200k servers for work. My point is you can’t feign surprise that a high end device depreciates aggressively. A $50k desktop has 30k of premium. A 10k desktop would likely have 80% of the performance. You made the deliberate choice to buy a system way above and beyond the price/performance curve that will be shredded by the $2500 midline system a generation or two out.
It depreciates faster when you buy that far off the curve. You’re throwing a lol like I don’t know shit here, when you can’t see beyond the context of them existing.

It's also a person thing, I think. Some people in my family can play VR for a long at a time, others start feeling woozy and play in shorter bursts.

I said the Pro and Max model not the base M1/M2.
There is no T2 security chip on Apple Silicon Macs. You don’t seem to know much about these systems.

LMAO. Fair point but judging by how difficult some of those are compared to the past I'd imagine Googles object detection is getting pretty good.

Ok, then find me a single benchmark that shows M1 or M2 soc storage going over 3GBps. I don't think you understand what the T2 "security" chip does to performance.

That’s bullshit. The Pro and Max models will do PCI-E 4.0 speeds so 7.4 GBps.
> Meanwhile PCs have been enjoying 7500 for years
Evidence needed. How many years? List models of PCs from vendors.

I’ve used the latest iteration of Hololens and never had an issue with motion sickness. Using the device while walking around the office is one thing, wearing it while sprinting through a war zone is another. I imagine Apple will stick with the headset fork factor until it can handle more physically strenuous use cases

Virtual boy was trying to do things we just didn’t have the tech for yet. I had that thing it weighed about 20 pounds. They said you could lie down and use it instead of playing it on top of a desk but that never really worked.

It's absolutely buck wild to me how many victims of Apple Derangement Syndrome sincerely thought this was a design choice and not a bug. In what universe would this even make sense from a business perspective? "In order to use this $130 streaming device you need a $1000 iPhone." People would just buy a fucking Roku instead.

If I understand correctly, MR means the headset is capable VR, and then there’s passthrough capabikity which essentially feeds your headset a video image of the “outside world” and overlays info/images on that real world image. AR I believe there’s no “video” that’s being shown. It’s just the outside world being shown through a lens like on on your phone with images overlayed on top of it.
