The current generation of CPUs is barely better than the last. They just cranked up the power usage for most of the gains.
Even if you don’t care about power cost, the noise can be reason enough to skip it.

There are other larger / more mainstream markets but that does not diminish the money to be made/relevance of enthusiast tech. Raspberry Pi had 95.82 million GBP revenue. It is not Windows, but idk why people are saying it will "fade into non existence V Quickly". It is an open source spec not some new Phone, so how mainstream it is doesn't even seem like an applicable critique. This is a niche group of people so the market is not as big. It is like saying Ubuntu is not relevant.

All of those you listed were specifically done by the government and not rich people.

Most corp latops I worked on ran Linux. Every computer at Google I saw ran Linux or OSX. All of my personal laptops including the laptop I wrote this comment on (System76: https://system76.com/).

I remember back in the early 60’s an aunt who lost a hand in a bus accident had a variety of hands, including one specifically for knitting!

FYI peoples have design and instructions to build it yourself with a 3d printer - for free.
And if you loose a finger as well., I won't even be surprised for US folk if it is cheaper to buy a 3d printer and do it yourself. (I mean, a 300$ resin printer or 3d printer + 20-30$ of "filament" is cheap AF. You won't have to pay for employees time and stupid greedy fee)
Warning: resin printers print *** nice details, unfortunately it is also toxic (use glove! Some ventilation! And need to be cured (by sun or UV lamp (warning dangerous for your eye :p))

It’s also interesting that to many people who lost a hand or a leg, a more robotic prosthetic is more agreeable than a lifelike one.

Modern motherboards are like...more than double the price of decent mobo's a few months/years back.
Was planning to upgrade from my a320...but getting a new cpu, new ram (ddr5) and an even more expensive mobo...uhhhh, i guess i'll sit this one out :/

I'm still into gaming, but it's become less and less viable to upgrade on a 2 year basis, since the prices keep rising and rising, especially in the GPU market. And if anything I wanted to regularly update my GPU since I also use it for 3D modeling and working in Unreal Engine. I wanted to upgrade to a 4090 this year, but there is no way in hell I'm paying over 2k€ for it. Also most higher end stuff is more expensive in EU so it's a bummer to be an PC enthusiasts these days...

The SSD basically made upgrading obsolete for me. I used to be a gamer but I’m not anymore. Quick boot plus SSDs mean I’m up and running in under 10 seconds now. On a computer that’s 9 years old.

Yes and like I said it may be the case for China. But outside of the restrictions on China - the most massive laptop markets do not use Linux. And it's won't happen in those markets until major desktop OS support is created from Windows and perhaps MacOs (which I doubt)
