Only 6 pins in an 8 (or 6+2) plug carry power. Also those 8 (or 6+2) pin cables came in the daisy chain/pigtail variety, meaning each cable had two GPU plugs each capable of doing 150W so 300W total for 6 wires from the PSU.

We now have a single plug cable (with no pigtail/daisy chain) that has 12 current carrying wires and supports 600W, it's no different than before, it's still 50W per wire from the PSU (or more specifically 100W per pair).

Think of the new 12 pin connector like two dual pigtails 8 pin cables from before, they just moved the sense wires to the additional 4 and consolidated the plug, the number of wires from the PSU that carry current hadn't changed.

They've effectively halved the number of connections because they've removed the ability to have a pigtail/daisy chained connector and separated the sense wires.

There’s a massive difference between the games that stimulate reflex coordination and response times. 90% of the games we throw on iPads do NOT do this. Furthermore, we need to keep in mind that over saturation of any sort of stimulation is going to have adverse side effects. One of the most prevalent side effects in these “ipad kids,” as you call them, is a high dependency on the device to supply their dopamine, which causes a form of addiction to the device.

So, at the end of the day, what kids need is proper parenting alongside all these new reports. But most people have kids for the image and not the experience, so they resort to lazy ways to find the topography of behavior they wish to see, with zero foresight for the damage it causes. Oh, billy is throwing a tantrum at the restaurant? Stick a screen in his face instead of helping him work through his human emotions. I.E. bottle it up and save the problem for another day. But what happens when it’s too late?

I am experiencing RAM issues when other Adobe Apps are open although I set their allowed RAM usage to the minimum amount. This is different to x86 where this setting really had an effect.

So even a passive Media Encoder or Illustrator are slowing down AE on M1, but when AE is running alone, its very smooth here.

Technically yes, especially if you have a very large screen or sit very close. But the effect will always be very subtle. It's a diminishing returns problem.

There is also the content problem. 8k content exists, but it's very rare.

(P.S. Just my opinion, but the thing that makes people go "wow" with existing 4k TVs is not mostly the 4k part, it's improvements to things like High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Wide Color Gamut, the quality of which varies significantly by 4k set. I'm personally a bit cynical of 8k because of the price premium).

I don’t know how you manage to get plugins to run well. My AE gets choked up hard with memory issues with just a Red giant/maxon FX or after cleaning roto footage. The thing just gets to choked up. Have to purge constantly. Work for 10 minutes. locks up, purge again. I’ve tried running them on rosetta as well

No i bought a laptop as a toy to mess around with. I have a 3070 laptop. 3070 desktop rig and a dual 3090 rig. The m1 render times are significantly slower for octane and AE on the m1 compared to the 3070 laptop. Not all workloads get hit so hard. But larger pipelines will eat away at the memory. Like the difference in my render times is nearly 3-4x. It’s just upsetting because the m1 was over 1k more than the 3070 laptop. The performance for my sled at 3.5k was just a lot of money to put in the table for what i felt were not the best returns. Just my personal experience.

The weeds would have to adapt to being burned alive. Maybe by building a more thicker and heat resistant "skin", but would have to do that without using all its energy to do so.

In a horrible future its an arm race of higher temp lasers against weeds, that results in scene of a burning field of crops, with robots tangled in weeds shooting erratically as the farmer hides in the cellar for their life. Skynet becomes self aware, and the only solution to weeding is to destroy humans who categorize things as weeds, but the AI has categorized humans as weeds. Global famine and war ravage the human race, all because we wanted to burn some weeds.
